What could be more typical of the French countryside than a stay surrounded by vineyards and sunflower fields? And that’s what you’ll get at Bellevues Glamping and Camping, a peaceful rural spot in the Charente-Maritime – one of the sunniest regions of south-west France – with several acres of private grounds to explore (bring your dogs to join you on your explorations) and hilltop views across the vines to admire. This peaceful place is somewhere to sunbathe, rest in a shady spot with a favourite book, or bring a sketchpad to try and capture the landscape on paper. Cool off in the pool, stroll around the grounds, witness spectacular sunrises… then after dark, gaze up at the starry skies on clear nights – after a couple of days, you’ll almost certainly be completely chilled. There’s accommodation to match all styles of camping – and all pockets – and you have direct access to walks and cycle rides on quiet country roads past fields of vines, taking in the sleepy village of Mérignac (10 minutes on foot, five minutes by bike). If you need to top up the foodie supplies, head for Montendre (15 minutes’ drive), a small market town with shops for all your essentials, a weekly produce market (Thursdays, with night markets on Tuesday during July and August) and a scattering of restaurants and wine caves in which to sample the local vintages.

  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.
  • Het reserveren voor vrijgezellenfeesten is niet toegestaan via Pitchup.com.
  • Het buitenzwembad is geopend tussen 01/05 en 31/10 (afhankelijk van de weersomstandigheden).
  • Auto's/motoren zijn niet toegestaan op de staplaats/bij de accommodatie. Deze moeten worden geparkeerd op de daarvoor bestemde plekken.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 10 meter nodig.
  • Onderkomens die langer zijn dan 10 meter, zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Onderkomens die zwaarder zijn dan 6000 , zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.
  • Bij droog, winderig en/of heet weer zijn vuren, barbecues en vuurkorven niet toegestaan.
  • Only toilet cassettes using green fluid can be emptied on site, other fluids are not permitted.

Dit is een kleine, rustige camping met prachtige landelijke uitzichten. Gasten prijzen consequent de uitzonderlijk gastvrije en behulpzame gastheren, Linda en Richard, en het brandschone zwembad en de faciliteiten. De rustige ligging te midden van wijngaarden en velden is een groot pluspunt. Veel bezoekers beschrijven het als een van de beste campings die ze hebben bezocht en willen graag terugkeren.

Ik was blij met Lovely quiet site (only 7 pitches and a static caravan), with very welcoming lovely hosts. Good recommendations for dinner in the area. Very peaceful among vineyards and fields. Very clean pool and bathroom facilities (1 shower and 1 toilet but didn’t really need to queue at all as not many pitches). Best site of our holiday :)

Ik was blij met Absolutely perfect.
This site has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere thanks to Richard and Linda. We had a stunning view from our tent which we enjoyed watching the sunset after a refreshing dip in the pool. We couldn’t have asked for more from our final camping stop. We will definitely be remembering Bellevues Glamping and Camping for next time!

For those who are keen to explore the Charente-Maritime on two wheels, the Galope Chopine Greenway passes through Chantillac (10 minutes’ drive) and provides easy cycling for families. Other kid-centric expeditions could include a trip to Mysterra, Parc des Labyrinthes à Montendre (45 minutes by bike) for interactive games in the woodland, or the Maison de la Forêt (40 minutes) in Haute-Saintonge Forest, which has themed displays on local wildlife and views across the woodland from its observation tower. Families looking for leisurely downtime together can spend the day floating on the lazy river and shooting down slides at Les Antilles de Jonzac waterpark, or stop by at the multimedia exhibits on the future of energy at the Maison de l’Energie – Espace FRANCE Rénov (both 20 minutes’ drive). For jaunts into photogenic towns, Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire (25 minutes) is packed with striking 15th-century mansions and châteaux.
