Lozari beach, as you’ll no doubt have divined from the pics, is a smashing place to spend a relaxing day (or few). Those with an aversion to sitting still can hire kayaks or paddleboards here instead, or join a guided half-day kayak paddle along the coastline. A little further along coast in L’Île-Rousse (20 minutes’ drive) are scuba diving centres, a sailing school and windsurf centre. For something requiring a little less effort, the harbour here is also the place for boat trips out to swimming and snorkelling spots. Away from the water (as mesmerising as that bright blue may be), other recommended visits locally include the botanic gardens at Parc de Saleccia, 10 minutes’ drive from the park, and pottering about in some of the area’s little hilltop villages. Sant’Antonino, with buildings dating back to the 9th century, is about 40 minutes away; a further few minutes’ drive takes you to Montemaggiore, where you can visit an olive oil mill and wander among the olive groves.
