Did someone say beach? Whatever the time of day, it’s quite likely they did… because Tiny SeaSide - Loddenhøj is right by the sea in the village of Loddenhøj, about 20 minutes’ drive from Aabenraa, in south-eastern Denmark. Pitching your tent right by the beach is a dream for many campers – and this is a place where you can really bring that vision to life, waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the sea in the morning, swimming or strolling on the sand throughout the day, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night. Here you’ll be able to slow down and live life at your own pace for a while, spending time staring out to sea and lighting a barbecue for a seaside meal. Along the coast there are several places for fishing and paddleboarding, and you can explore the local area easily enough on foot or by hiring bikes from the site. A five-minute drive takes you to the boarding point for the ferry sailing to the peaceful island of Barsø, where you can walk a seven-kilometre loop. A golf course is also close by, as is the HighPark Sønderjylland adventure park (both 15 minutes’ drive). In terms of facilities, there’s little to distract you from the gorgeous surroundings, but all the essentials are in place – the site has a small shop, a wifi service, a washing-up area and bathrooms with toilets and showers. Fresh Danish 'rundstykker' (bread rolls) are also available to order.

  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.
  • Het gebruik van de douche kost DKK 10,00 (€ 1,34).
  • Er mogen geen reserveringen worden gemaakt voor meer dan 28 aaneengesloten nachten.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 7 meter nodig.
  • Minimumafstand van 5 meter tussen de staplaatsen.
  • Indien de receptie bij aankomst gesloten is: neem contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.

Ik was blij met: What a strange little site this is! Mainly camping pods, but there is a handful of pitches for a tent, van or caravan. These pitches are not really on a site, it’s really just the side of the road, anyone can walk or drive past. That being said we did feel secure enough and it was lovely to be so close to the sea. Staff were very laid back, friendly and helpful.

Ik was blij met: What can I say but absolutely fantastic place to stay. Started off with great hosts who were very helpful and friendly. The view from the caravan was perfect and the beach was beautiful and literally a few meters away. The water was crystal clear and perfect for our paddle boarding and swimming. The shop served beer and ice cream plus chocolate and coffee a staple diet. There was a resident seal out of the rocks and the beach popular with the locals. Loved it here and extended our stay a little. wifi was spot on also. All facilities are very clean. Please note this site has had a recent takeover and new owners are in place and totally changed from old reviews.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Sitting at the tip of a fjord, Aabenraa is a pretty town with a vast area of parkland centred around Brundlund Castle, a diminutive 15th-century construction that is now home to a collection of works by artists from Southern Jutland. Also in the grounds are a mill, ponds and play areas. Jump A Lot (25 minutes) is an indoor play centre with trampolines, inflatable structures and bowling lanes, plus a parkour area where you can practise your jumps, slides and rolls. There’s also an outdoor area with miniature golf and a playground, plus picnic tables from where you can keep an eye on the kids. Cross the border with Germany and head to Flensburg (45 minutes), where PHÄNOMENTA is a child-friendly science museum with hands-on exhibits. In the long harbour area, Flensburger Schifffahrtsmuseum displays maritime artefacts that illuminate the history of the town, and there are far-reaching views from the top of the Wasserturm Flensburg observation deck.
