This is one of those sites where a quick browse of the photos alone will be enough to entice you into booking a stay. Amadria Park Camping Šibenik is in a particularly stunning location, in a pine forest between a beach and a marina about 10 minutes' drive from Šibenik town centre. The gorgeous turquoise water of the Adriatic Sea features heavily in those pictures, but tear yourself away for just a few moments, because there's more to this place than just the sea views. For starters, it's fabulously family-friendly, with a playground on the beach, a games room on site and an outdoor swimming pool for those times when you don’t fancy the beach. And it's also well equipped with practical facilities – it has a supermarket, a beach snack bar and a beach equipment shop as well as the Olive Garden restaurant, which serves a seafood-led menu both indoors and on its shaded sea-view terrace. A launderette, a dog wash area and well-appointed bathrooms are also on site, and the team at reception are on hand to help out with any advice or requests. So that's the site’s facilities – but even that isn't the end of it, as you'll also have access to payable facilities in the neighbouring resort – these include an indoor aqua park, a spa/wellness centre and another restaurant. Getting into town is easy from here, as a bus service runs hourly from just outside the site. Day trips to the island of Zlarin, the city of Split or Krka and Kornati Islands national parks can all be on the cards too while you’re staying here.

Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

It’s easy to fill many hours just in the vicinity of the site, either hanging out on the beach or venturing to nearby attractions like Pirate Adventure Minigolf and Aquapark Dalmatia (both about 15 minutes' walk). Alternatively, head into Šibenik (10 minutes' drive/20 minutes by bus) to visit the Old Town and climb to the old forts at the top of town. Šibenik is also the place to board ferries to the tiny car-free island of Zlarin, a lovely place for a hike to a wild beach. For more island exploration, continue to Vodice (25 minutes' drive) for an excursion to the Kornati Islands National Park. Speaking of national parks, it's also well worth taking a trip to the Krka National Park (20 minutes), where trails and boardwalks run through some spectacular waterfall scenery. And if you've not been yet, then Split (an hour) should also be on your list – Diocletian’s Palace is a must-see and there are numerous Game of Thrones locations dotted around to tick off.
