Yet to camp near a waterfall? This wild adults-only farm site in Costa Rica will give you a chance to tick that off your bucket list. Finca de Fin del Sol has trails to 10 waterfalls on the property, so guests can hike until they find somewhere to place their tent with a view of a waterfall.
For adults only, it is based in Guanacaste, just half an hour’s drive away from Lake Arenal and 55 minutes from Monteverde, two stunning tourist spots. Basic but well-maintained, it is on a working farm with lots of wildlife including birds and monkeys.
The farm has fresh eggs available daily and a large greenhouse with fresh vegetables (available during season). The sunsets are pretty stunning, with mountains as the backdrop. A shower and toilet block are provided, although there’s no hot water, and there are barbecues for guests to use. Dogs are also welcome to join guests for the stay.
As well as having 10 waterfalls to its name, Finca de Fin del Sol is a 10-minute walk from two other larger waterfalls. This includes the Viento Fresco Waterfall, a huge waterfall with steep trails, and the La piedra del indio waterfalls, made up of an easy-to-access large waterfall and a great restaurant.

Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.- Gasten jonger dan 18 zijn hier niet toegestaan.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
At Finca de Fin del Sol, you will likely have already seen a few (or indeed, a couple handfuls) of waterfalls. However, there are plenty more falls – and all with their own flair, of course – around Costa Rica. El Tigre Waterfalls Monteverde (50 minutes’ drive) has won over quite a few fans, and it also has a zipwire bicycle for those who want to push the boat out.
The largest lake in Costa Rica, Lake Arenal (from half an hour’s drive), is surrounded by gorgeous hikes and typical Costa Rican wildlife. Here, you might feel inclined to take charge of a kayak or paddleboard and glide out over the lake.
If ‘wildlife’ and ‘hiking’ are buzzwords in your life, you may want to test the trail at Entrada Cerro Pelado (45 minutes) or head towards the Monteverde area for zoos and wildlife tours. The Bat Jungle (55 minutes) is a bat zoo with live feedings, whereas if you want to see wildlife at night, Wildlife Refuge Monteverde (50 minutes) runs night-time tours.
Finally, if you are impartial to some adrenaline-inducing activities, Selvatura Adventure Park (an hour and five minutes) has zipwires and other outdoor activities.
