What a wow of a setting – this is a place that's got a proper jungle vibe on the secluded windward side of Barbados. Camping Barbados East Coast is all about wild camping amid swaying coconut trees and spectacular views of the Atlantic breakers.
This seven-acre back-to-basics site has spacious grass pitches and a shaded camping area by the pond. Facilities? There are quite a few for such a remote spot: a hot-water shower, dish-washing area and flushing toilets are all here, as well as charging points at the main cabin.
Don’t feel like doing anything? You don’t need to – just laze away leisurely days in a hammock, hang out on the decking with ocean views at the chill-out cabin or stroll down to the fishing village of Martins Bay (10 minutes’ walk) for a paddle in shallow waves on the sandy beach.
Back on site, barbecues are permitted and you can pick up fresh produce, fruit and veg from a street stall nearby. There’s also a village shop selling pastries and bits and bobs – but if you’re too laidback to even think about catering, check out the oceanfront tavern (don’t miss the fish fry on Thursdays) in Martins Bay or head for the waterside eateries and rum shops in pretty Bathsheba (10 minutes’ drive).

Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.- Auto's/motoren zijn niet toegestaan op de staplaats/bij de accommodatie. Deze moeten worden geparkeerd op de daarvoor bestemde plekken.
- Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 21 of ouder te zijn.
- Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
- Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.
- Er is geen receptie ter plaatse: neem bij aankomst contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
All you surfers, gather around. The Soup Bowl at Bathsheba (10 minutes’ drive) is one of the best spots for getting out on the waves in Barbados (sorry swimmers, that big surf makes it unsuitable for swimming). Other beaches with consistent breaks include South Point and Brandons Beach (both half an hour) on the south coast of the island.
If you’d rather explore Barbados on dry land, you can hike the former coastal railway line (10 minutes’ walk) to Bath Beach, book horse-riding adventures through the wild jungle and or join local anglers fishing off the beach at Martins Bay (10 minutes’ walk) – and don’t miss the bizarre rock formations along the coastline.
Fancy a day out amid the bright lights of Bridgetown? It's a half-hour drive, or you can catch the regular bus – either way, you can go shopping at top-end Sheraton Mall or pop into the Mount Gay Visitor Centre to sample some island rum. Alternatively, have a wander among the colourful bougainvillaea at Andromeda Botanical Gardens (10 minutes' drive) or see if you can get lucky by spotting green monkeys among the trees at the Flower Forest Botanical Gardens (20 minutes).
