If a small-scale, peaceful site deep in the Pembrokeshire countryside sounds like an enticing idea, then set your sights on Quarry Park Camping, a rural site 15 minutes' drive from Haverfordwest. Alongside the well-kept (and very spacious) main pitching field, there's a small woodland here for strolls around the site. Many more top walks can easily be reached on foot – or, if you're after hikes along the Wales Coast Path or up in the Preseli Hills, after a short drive. Make tracks here if you fancy cooking and eating in the open air – each pitch has a private firepit with barbecue grill and outdoor furniture, with wood, kindling and charcoal handily all available to buy on site. For an extra kick of flavour, feel free to drop by the community herb garden and help yourself. Got leftovers? Fridge-freezers are available for shared use. This site may have a low-key, back to basics vibe, but it's also home to great facilities like a wifi connection (at reception), a laundry area and – on the off chance you need protection from the elements – a nifty covered area. There's also a small shop at reception where you can stock up on holiday basics, including free-range eggs and local honey. For more food shops and restaurant options, head 10 minutes down the road to Narberth. Dogs are welcome to stay here, but please keep them on their best behaviour at all times.

Deze camping wordt geprezen om zijn vriendelijke gastheer Matt en rustige, ruime plekken in het prachtige Pembrokeshire. De faciliteiten, waaronder douches en toiletten, zijn netjes. Ik was blij met We had a lovely stay at this peaceful and spacious campsite. The site is large, clean and beautifully quiet — perfect for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

Mat, the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The hospitality was excellent and we felt very comfortable throughout our visit.

Ik was blij met We had a great stay! Really quiet site with generous pitches. Good amount of fridge space, nice toilet and washing up facilities. Loved the comfy sofas in the barn area, the bacon baps and fresh eggs! Matt was really helpful and so nice. It’s a great central location for exploring, with most things no more than a 30min drive.

Ik was blij met Good size pitches, great host, fantastic location to explore the area in any direction.

Ik was niet blij met Not always hot water for washing up and only 2 showers for the whole camp, but time it right and it’s fine.

Ik was blij met Everything 😀 the site is well planned out, well maintained, very clean . We were met by Matt who was very friendly and showed us to our pitch and gave us a tour of where showers toilets fridges charging point water tap n bins were located. Matt was extremely helpful as we had to postpone our trip as it was a tad to hot for our dog on our original booking. Fitted us in a week or so later when weather had cooled which was perfect. We were also allowed to stay an additional 2 nights 'brilliant'. the location is perfect for travelling to surrounding places. Our Rokit loved barking hello to Matt as he walked around site making sure all ok and the bacon baps he cooked were a very welcome treat for hubby and Rokit lol . We had a very nice and chilled stay, site , and facilitys were perfect. Lovely walk through granny's wood n large field . Quarry Park is a credit to all the hard work of Matt who is a superstar ⭐️ will definatly be back in the future thank you Matt 😊 xx

Ik was blij met Fabulous site. The owner Matt is just so lovely. From a welcome text with directions to a really warm welcome on arrival. He’s really chilled and flexible and we loved him bringing his gorgeous lab over to play with my two. We were here during Storm Dave and he even came to check on us next day to make sure we were ok. The site is so quiet and peaceful. Pitches are large and are flat. Loved that the firepit and picnic table is included and also loved the greener camping and sustainability element of the site. Thanks so much Matt we had a gorgeous chilled stay and would definitely return if in the area again. Jayne, Phoebe and Mabel

For the kids, you could venture down to Clerkenhill Adventure Farm and Frisbee Golf (five minutes' drive), a mightily active spot with lots of hands-on options for all the family, or to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo with its animals, excellent rides and ace amusements. There's also The Secret Owl Garden (10 minutes), with a focus exclusively on nocturnal birds of prey. Young and old can also take advantage of sporty times at Blue Lagoon Water Park (10 minutes), or equally invigorating walks along the brilliant Landsker Borderlands Trail, a waymarked route that can be joined at nearby Canaston Bridge (five minutes). Surfing down at the coast is another popular pick, for which you need only head towards Tenby (30 minutes) or Broad Haven (25 minutes). Make sure you also take some time to kick back and relax while on holiday. For that, settle down on the beach at Saundersfoot (25 minutes) or pick a harbourside spot in Solva (30 minutes). There are also the quiet castle keeps of Haverfordwest (15 minutes), Picton (10 minutes), and St Davids Bishop's Palace (30 minutes).
