Little Retreats is in Lawrenny on a peninsula overlooking the River Cleddau estuary with stunning views across the water. It’s upriver from Milford Haven (half an hour’s drive), where it branches off towards the Cresswell and Carew rivers, in an inland part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Stays here are in smart glamping accommodation on the site of an old castle. Each one has a private toilet, kitchen, picnic table, personal water supply and parking. Dogs are welcome to settle down with you in your space and snuffle around the park and its scenic surrounds. There are a number of gorgeous walks to set off on, including a circular trail through Lawrenny’s steep-sided ancient oak woodland, looking out across the Daugleddau river and running along the tidal creeks of Garron Pill and the Cresswell River. It goes past a pub and a cafe, so you can grab lunch at either of these venues or grill grub at the outdoor firepit provided with your bell tent. The beaches of Freshwater East and Tenby are 25 minutes’ drive away.
