Stuck deciding between the mountains, the coast and the countryside? All three are easily accessed from Ael y Garnedd, a family-run touring park in Star, Anglesey. How so? Well, this site has a splendid selection of well-maintained, level pitches in pleasant grounds just off the A55, easily accessible from the Britannia Bridge and close to the Anglesey coastline. The pitches have the added bonus of spectacular views over the mountains of Snowdonia National Park (which is from 20 minutes’ drive away, by the way). Whether it's mountaineering in Snowdonia, rib rides and exploring the castle in Beaumaris (20 minutes), or lunch in Caernarfon (20 minutes), the site's central location is bound to come very much in handy. That’s what makes this place such a great base for family and dog-friendly holidays spent both on the island and mainland. Sandy beaches are close by too, and you'll be less than 30 minutes from the offerings at Benllech, Aberffraw, Rhosneigr and Ynys Llanddwyn, a haven for ramblers, rockpoolers and cyclists. With amenities like grey-waste disposal, toilets and showers all provided, as well as a laundry room, life on site is comfortable, and if you do need to venture out it won't take you long to find what you're looking for. The nearest pub is five minutes' drive, while Menai Bridge (10 minutes) has a large supermarket and an array of shops and restaurants.

Camping wordt zeer geprezen om schone, moderne faciliteiten en ruime plaatsen met mooi uitzicht. Eigenaren zijn vriendelijk. Ideaal voor verkenning van Anglesey/Noord-Wales. Enig minpunt is verkeersgeluid van de A55 en enkele hellende plaatsen.

Ik was blij met A lovely peaceful campsite that was very family friendly. The facilities were nice and clean, and the location was perfect for visits across the isle of Anglesey and Bangor/Caenarfon etc. 100% would stay again.

Ik was niet blij met The WiFi wasn’t particularly good. Struggled to load webpages nevermind any kind of streaming, but that is a minor criticism as everything else was fantastic!

Regarding the WiFi, it is intended to cover the all pitches, but external factors such as weather and signal interference mean it cannot always be guaranteed. If you had let us know during your stay, we would have been happy to look into the issue and try to help. Adding this to a review after leaving doesn’t give us the opportunity to resolve it for you at the time. I’m sorry that the connection wasn’t strong during your visit.

Ik was blij met The cleanliness. The site was immaculate and so were the shoers and toilets. Always plenty of hot water.
The scenery is amazing
The weather was also amazing

Ik was niet blij met Reception was NEVER open
The slope on the site made for a slightly difficult pitch and sleepy was awkward.
The dogs on the farm next to the site, barked 24/7 and would put us off staying again
The road noise
There were also 2 XL Bullies on site , the rules specifically sad these breeds were not allowed on. They ran at my husband with our two Scottie dogs . They were off lead and not muzzled. The owner grabbed them apologised and said she was sorry they were not good at recall. It was terrifying.

Ik was blij met How clean the showers and toilets were, the organisation of the bins to recycle easily. A lovely small camp site where fellow Campers were very friendly. Nice that the owner called by to say hello and make sure we were settled in ok. The views of Snowdonia are AMAZING. Great place to stay to explore Anglesey.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

When you want to stay pretty local, make Menai Suspension Bridge (five minutes' drive) your first stop. The huge suspension bridge between Anglesey and mainland Wales is a sight to behold. Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens (10 minutes) is rather interesting too, as a historic estate with peaceful gardens and tea rooms. Beaumaris (20 minutes) next? This stop is by the seaside, hence the gorgeous promenade, and the castle is also worth a visit. Caernarfon Castle (20 minutes) has a big ‘wow’ factor too – the huge palace-style fortress sits along the river Seiont and looks very grand. In Conwy (30 minutes), there’s another castle, as well as the harbour where boat tours take off across the coast. For those of you interested in getting to know legends and history around St David, visit the island of Ynys Llanddwyn (30 minutes). The scenery is just as great at Great Orme (45 minutes), a chunk of limestone land that juts out into the sea and has been named the ‘sea monster’ by the Vikings. Time for some adrenaline instead? Zip World Fforest (40 minutes) has a forest rollercoaster and zipwires or swings over the treetops.
