Calling all walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, beachgoers… there's a lovely base for all of you at Ynysymaengwyn Caravan and Camping Park, in the grounds of a ruined old manor house in rural Gwynedd, just over a mile from Tywyn and its beach. This is a peaceful spot indeed for a break, as the pitches are surrounded by woodland where you can head out for walks (with your dog by your side if you’ve brought them along for the ride) or follow the orienteering course for a bit more of a challenge. There's also an adventure playground to keep the kids busy, plus access to the Dysynni river at the bottom of the site for anglers to fish for salmon and trout. This is a park that likes to keep things simple and relaxed rather than providing lots of entertainment, but it’s got all the essential facilities sorted including a launderette, an Elsan point and toilets and showers with accessible facilities. The location of the park is at the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park and very close to the coast, so there’s no shortage of things to do – whether you’d like hardcore hiking or something rather more gentle. And you shouldn’t go hungry either, as Tywyn has a good collection of places to eat including cafés, chip shops, takeaways and restaurants. The town also has a supermarket and bakery if you’d rather sort your own meals back at base or pick up picnic bits.

  • De receptie is onbemand na 19:00. Verwacht je na dit tijdstip aan te komen, breng het park dan hiervan op de hoogte, zodat het team je informatie kan geven over jouw accommodatie.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 4 meter nodig.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Zwemmen in het meer is niet toegestaan.
  • Indien de receptie bij aankomst gesloten is: neem contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.
  • Bij droog, winderig en/of heet weer zijn vuren, barbecues en vuurkorven niet toegestaan.

Ik was blij met: I recently stayed at this campsite, and I was thoroughly impressed! Not only is the location beautiful, but the facilities were in good condition. The toilets and shower areas were spotless and well-maintained throughout my stay, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend this campsite.

Ik was blij met: Good amenities. Nice location. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy. Hair dryers in thr bathrooms were a nice addition.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Could of done with a spare plug sockets for own hairdyers/straightners etc.

Ik was blij met: Lovely clean site, good facilities plenty of bins, toilets and showers which were well maintained. Beautiful views and local area. My only niggle was it was extremely busy and i would typically like a slightly more secluded or private pitch however everyone there was very respectful with noise etc and it was to be expected really as last weekend of the summer hols and the sun was shining. Would definitely return.

Ik was blij met: Everything, the pitches were decent, and surrounded by amazing countryside, with a woodland walkon accessible from the camping area. There is a decent sized kids play area, although a smaller one on the camping field would be a good idea. Customer service was great and the showers and toilet facilities were decent and clean. Tywyn is a mile away and has everything you need in terms of food, drink and shopping.

Ik was blij met: We have been coming to Ynysymaengwyn for years and have never had any issues, toilets and showers clean and available. Pitches suitable and lovely walks through the woods.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

As well as being your nearest source of food, Tywyn’s a great little seaside town with a sandy beach, miniature golf, pitch and putt and tennis courts. It’s also the starting point for the Talyllyn Railway, which runs into the countryside for a scenic ride – a particularly nice way to do it is to ride to Dolgoch and walk to its waterfall before a cuppa in the tea rooms. Walkers may like to set out on the Wales Coast Path or head inland for a wander along the shores of Tal-y-llyn lake (15 minutes’ drive), scramble up the slopes of Penygader (20 minutes) or head to the walking hub of Dolgellau (half an hour) to explore the trails around there. Mountain bikers, meanwhile, will no doubt want to tackle the trails of Coed-y-Brenin (45 minutes) while birdwatchers learn about the residents of Dyfi Osprey Project (half an hour). Once you’ve spent some time on the sands of Tywyn, head a little further along the coast to explore the dunes of Ynyslas Nature Reserve and see the petrified forest at Borth (both 45 minutes).
