Whether you’re getting out over rugged peaks or green clifftops, Hendre Hall Holiday Park is a fine spot for exploring the Cardigan Bay coast and the gorgeous countryside of the Cambrian mountains in Snowdonia National Park. Sitting between the two, this site is located in the grounds of Hendre Hall, an attractive listed building that dates back to the 18th century – making it a historic base for exploring the green hills that make this landscape one of the prettiest in Britain. Have your camera at the ready to capture some of the sunsets that light up the sky in the west. You may also want to take photos of the food, the hills and the many miles of spectacular coastline, including views over to the Llŷn Peninsula, Snowdon, Barmouth and Bardsey Island. With a bit of luck, you may see the dolphins that live in Cardigan Bay too. Sea and sand on your mind? That's not a surprise – the nearest beach is about a five-minute walk away along a footpath that is directly accessible from the site. Llwyngwril's other amenities, like a friendly local pub, a railway station and a small shop, are also about five minutes' walk away. There are solid on-site facilities at Hendre Hall Holiday Park too, including toilets, showers, a wash house with laundry facilities and a recycling area. Kids are very welcome here and have a playground all to themselves; dogs are allowed to come and explore the area by your side too. Hendre Hall Holiday Park is also home to pygmy goats and chickens which can be visited and fed. Please note that this is a family site and that quiet hours are in force after 10.30pm.

Ik was blij met: Lovely small site next to a lovely beach few minutes away a bar and cafe on site if wanted think open just during day train station 10 mins walk but goes right past pitches but not too regulary

Cwt Gwril campingpod

Ik was blij met: The pod was warm clean and cosy, an upgrade from camping on a wet weekend and much easier than putting up a tent. Onsite farm shop bar and cafe were lovely and the location was great for exploring the coast

Ik was blij met: Excellent view! Nice welcome with great service at the bar. Nice food and cakes served too. Path to the beach was great .

Ik was blij met: Loved the views and the beach which was a very short walk. Had a bar, cafe and farm shop although we didn’t use these.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Lovely camp site but the dirty showers and toilets let them down. For the amount of pitches including tents, there were only 1 male and 1 female shower and 2 unisex showers. Again only 1 male and 1 female toilet and 2 unisex toilets, not enough for the amount of pitches. We waited until after 9pm to use them, not very clean at that time either and no mirrors in the 2 toilets near the bar area. We had a motorhome and the pitch we were put on was sloping which our levelling ramps didn’t help. They did offer to put us on another pitch but it was a lot smaller.

Ik was blij met: Location was a bonus, 2 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute walk to a shop and little over 5 minutes to the train station Friendly staff, clean toilets and showers Near to fairbourne, Barmouth and Tywyn so plenty of options

Ik was niet zo blij met: Lack of toilets and showers Having to pay for a shower Nearby pub has closed down Nowhere in village serves breakfast Being asked to turn my radio down at 6pm by a fellow camper (baring in mind it was only only volume 7) but then they had there toddler running around screaming Onsite dog never on a lead

Ik was blij met: What a delightful camp site! Owners and staff friendly. Friday night had a very good singer and was very enjoyable. A small herd of pigmy goats close to our caravan provided hours of entertainment. Lovely beach and shoreline 5 minutes walk away. Now and again a train went past on the adjacent railway. Only comment / suggestion would be a lamp at night at the chemical disposal point. Just wish dog owners would monitor their dogs and pick up poo which appeared as if by magic in various places around other people's caravans! Not something the site owners can be held responsible for! Would definitely recommend Hendre Hall to others

Ik was niet zo blij met: Irresponsible dog owners. Some form of soak away under the drinking water tap to stop it being muddy and lamp at chemical disposal point

When you set down here, ready your swimming gear, as Bala Lake (40 minutes’ drive) is a fine setting for sailing, wild swimming and canoeing or hiking the hills on all sides. The kit will come in handy for exploring the Barmouth (30 minutes) seafront by paddleboard, too, or windsurfing and kitesurfing in Aberdyfi (20 minutes). If more active pursuits are what you like your holidays chock-full with, Dolgellau (20 minutes) is a good point of departure for hikes, mountain biking or climbing crags. More beach paddles, perhaps, in Tywyn (15 minutes), followed by a traditional butter bun? Perhaps your preferred way of taking in views is from a cosy seat on an old steam train, such as the Fairbourne Railway (five minutes). It’s one of several historical places you might want to seek out – others include the Dyffryn Ardudwy burial chamber (40 minutes) and the Italian-style Portmeirion (50 minutes) village. Plas Brondanw Gardens (50 minutes) was designed by the same architect that created Portmeirion.
