Just 100 metres from the sea, Hendre Mynach Caravan and Camping Park is a rather splendid base for a break in northwest Wales. This family-friendly site is a five-minute stroll from Barmouth’s promenade, and sandy Barmouth beach is a pleasant 15 minutes’ walk away – or a quick ride on the small land train that travels up and down the promenade. When you’re not sea fishing from the shore, taking a peaceful paddle or watching the kids bounce on the trampolines on the beach, head to Barmouth Harbour (half an hour’s walk), the departure point for boat trips and off-shore fishing. An amusement park and leisure centre are other entertainment options in town, where foodies will find plenty of cafés and restaurants. Hendre Mynach Caravan and Camping Park is a convivial spot: families, couples, friendly bikers and rallies (outside of peak season, please) are all welcome, as are backpackers and solo travellers (at a discount during low season). There’s a playground for the kids, and keen cyclists are also catered for: National Cycle Route 8 runs past the site. It’s well equipped too, with water on all pitches, washing-up facilities and a modern shower block with shaver points, hairdryer and straighteners. There’s also a launderette, baby-change facilities with a baby bath, Elsan waste disposal points, a drive-on motorhome drain, tarmac roads and CCTV. Helpful staff are available 24 hours a day, gas and wifi are sold at reception, and there’s a shop on site, plus a local bus stop nearby.

Deze goed onderhouden camping ligt fantastisch, vlakbij strand en Barmouth. Personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam, faciliteiten schoon maar wat gedateerd. Ruime, vlakke plekken, vaak met water/stroom. Populair bij families, rustig en goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding.

Ik was blij met Great place to visit, highly recommend, my first time in Wales and I must say I did love it, I spent 3 nights ate Herdre Mynach with my 3 daughters and love every moment of it, the staff are great and very friendly, all site is very clean and looked after.

Ik was blij met Large pitch, hard standing with plenty of grassed area if required. Only a half hour stroll from the site along the promenade to the town of Barmouth. This is a large site so has two toilet, shower blocks with wash basins also. Laundry, shop that sold all sort, food beer ect. Dog washes.

Ik was niet blij met There was nothing I disliked about the this site. The site has WiFi but wouldn't connect. The area has very little mobile phone signal. Also no Arial signal, all due to being below some large hills😁.
The big shower block could really do with a refresh.

Ik was blij met Friendly staff really helpful and organised. Large pitches great location next to the beach.

Ik was niet blij met Unfortunately the cleanliness and general condition of the washroom facilities were of lower standard than experienced on previous visits. They could probably due a revamp or deep clean by a professional team.

Ik was blij met Staff were great and helpful . Pitch was flat . Lots of water taps. Skate park . Little shop was well stocked despite being quite expensive ( expected ) the meat packs

Stunning sunsets on an evening - head to the sea to watch it.

Ik was niet blij met There needs to be another toilet block at the end with non electric the main one is miles away.
The toilet block by the skate park -which were closer - not sure if this was owned by site or not. But these were dirty and had no light .

Van de manager: Thank you for your comments, just to clarify the toilet block is a mere 450 meters away. As much as we would like to get a toilet block into that field, connecting to services at present is an issue. We tried porta loo's, they were abused, so were removed. We need to state the toilet block by the skate park is council owned and nothing to do with our site.

Ik was blij met Fantastic friendly site, great stocked shop, best WiFi I’ve ever had on a campsite. Play area was nice, the location is a dream, it was about a 3 minute stroll from our tent through the site and across the railway track to the beach. Nice walk into Barmouth which was lovely and had lots of shops, cafes and a decent amusement arcade. Yes the toilets/showers are a little outdated but work well and all facilities are kept immaculately clean. We will definitely be back. Thanks to all staff.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

The burial site of Cors y Gedol (10 minutes’ drive) dates from about 4000 BC. Not much is left of the original stone mound, but the sea views alone are well worth the hike, plus you can push on to climb the slopes of Moelfre from here. If mountains are your thing, check out Penygader (35 minutes) and Snowdon (50 minutes), Wales’s highest peak. Got your mountain bike with you? Coed y Brenin Forest Park (half an hour) has eight purpose-build trails catering to all abilities and a skills area to practise your bunny hops, plus hiking paths taking in ruined copper mines, viewpoints and waterfalls. Speaking of which, at Dolgoch Falls (45 minutes), forested trails take you up close and personal to the cascades. At the Italianate-style village of Portmeirion (35 minutes), elegant architecture, pastel-coloured houses and lush subtropical gardens will have you believe you’re in Portofino. Stop for afternoon tea and don’t forget to buy some pottery.
