Just 100 metres from the sea, Hendre Mynach Caravan and Camping Park is a rather splendid base for a break in north-west Wales. This family-friendly site is a five-minute stroll from Barmouth’s promenade, and sandy Barmouth beach is a pleasant 15 minutes’ walk away – or a quick ride on the small land train that travels up and down the promenade. When you’re not sea fishing from the shore, taking a peaceful paddle or watching the kids bounce on the trampolines on the beach, head to Barmouth Harbour (half an hour’s walk), the departure point for boat trips and off-shore fishing. An amusement park and leisure centre are other entertainment options in town, where foodies will find plenty of cafés and restaurants. Hendre Mynach Caravan and Camping Park is a convivial spot: families, couples, friendly bikers and rallies (outside of peak season, please) are all welcome, as are backpackers and solo travellers (at a discount during low season). There’s a playground for the kids, and keen cyclists are also catered for: National Cycle Route 8 runs past the site. It’s well equipped too, with water on all pitches, washing-up facilities and a free and modern shower block with shaver points, hairdryer and straighteners. There’s also a launderette, baby-change facilities with a baby bath, Elsan waste disposal points, a drive-on motorhome drain, tarmac roads and CCTV. Helpful staff are available 24 hours a day, gas and wifi are sold at reception, and there’s a shop on site, plus a local bus stop nearby.

  • De boodschappenwinkel is geopend van 01/04 tot 01/11.
  • Deze camping ontvangt alleen gezinnen (directe familieleden) en koppels; reserveringen van andere groepen worden niet aangenomen.
  • De receptie is onbemand na 16:00. Verwacht je na dit tijdstip aan te komen, breng het park dan hiervan op de hoogte, zodat het team je informatie kan geven over jouw accommodatie.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 10 meter nodig.
  • Onderkomens die langer zijn dan 8 meter, zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Er is geen open vuur toegestaan in de gehuurde accommodaties.
  • Zwemmen in het meer is niet toegestaan.

Trekkershut

Ik was blij met: The hut, so cosy, plenty of space, comfy beds, pleasant and bright. Location and cleaness of the toilets and shower block perfect. Close to the beach. Shop that seems to sell everything. staff are lovely, very polite, friendly and helpful. Show an interest and make conversation. 10 minute walk to Barmouth town.

Ik was blij met: Lovely site ! Clean & tidy. Toilets & showers are dated. Easy walk to sea front.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Cafe on seafront is a bit hit & miss ,also be prepared to make your own drink with the machine.

Ik was blij met: Good pitches and well laid out. Very clean and staff friendly. Good services overall.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Shwoer blocks closed during busiest tiemusch as 8-00.9-30 sugggest move to later 12-1 as most people out then. Pitc lcose to train line so can be noisy

Van de manager: Thank you for your review, to note for other campers we have 2 toilet blocks, one of which is cleaned in the quieter times of 8am to 9 / 9.30am where customer traffic is at its lowest. If we move the toilet block cleaning then the accommodation cleaning would have to move and the earliest arrival times would also have to move to a later time due to the displacement of staff

Ik was blij met: The view was gorgeous. The water tap just outside was really handy. Staff were friendly

Ik was niet zo blij met: The toilets were closed from 8am -9.30am just at the time people mostly needed them, however there was another block but it was a bit of a walk

Please note that there is no access to the site by car from the promenade in Barmouth along the A496. If you are arriving by train, there is a public footpath from the promenade that has access to the site through a gate. There are National Express connections nearby and the number 38 bus visits the bus stop near the entrance of the site.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

The burial site of Cors y Gedol (10 minutes’ drive) dates from about 4000 BC. Not much is left of the original stone mound, but the sea views alone are well worth the hike, plus you can push on to climb the slopes of Moelfre from here. If mountains are your thing, check out Penygader (35 minutes) and Snowdon (50 minutes), Wales’s highest peak. Got your mountain bike with you? Coed y Brenin Forest Park (half an hour) has eight purpose-build trails catering to all abilities and a skills area to practise your bunny hops, plus hiking paths taking in ruined copper mines, viewpoints and waterfalls. Speaking of which, at Dolgoch Falls (45 minutes), forested trails take you up close and personal to the cascades. At the Italianate-style village of Portmeirion (35 minutes), elegant architecture, pastel-coloured houses and lush subtropical gardens will have you believe you’re in Portofino. Stop for afternoon tea and don’t forget to buy some pottery.
