A spot of wild camping in the Brecon Beacons National Park, anyone? That’s pretty much what you’ll get at The Alltimate View, and very aptly named it is too, being on the side of All Hill with long-reaching views across Powys hills to the River Usk. And despite its peaceful and remote setting, the site is really easy to get to, being only a one-minute drive from the A40.
 The few simple grass pitches are on a smallholding located between pretty riverside Brecon (15 minutes’ drive) and historic Crickhowell (10 minutes), and are something of a haven for hikers and cyclists, as trails and bridle paths lead straight out into Brecon Beacons National Park and the Black Mountains.
The site is also in an International Dark Sky Reserve, making it a prime spot for stargazing far away from city lights; guests have spotted meteors on particularly special nights. No-frills amenities cover a shower and loo, charging facilities and a communal fridge and freezer for keeping all your foodie bits and pieces fresh. Pick up barbecue supplies in Brecon or skip the self-catering lark altogether and head straight for the canal-side pubs in Talybont-on-Usk (five minutes).
 Back on site, you may well find yourself sharing space with the owners’ cheeky peacocks, chickens and ducks, as well as cute-as-anything, rare-breed Ryeland sheep.

Bezoekers loven de prachtige uitzichten, vriendelijke gastheren en veel boerderijdieren. De camping biedt rust met goede wandelmogelijkheden. Faciliteiten, vooral de douches, zijn schoon en verbeterd. Ondanks een rustieke uitstraling en een smalle toegangsweg, wordt de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding geprezen. Een aanrader!

Ik was blij met Chris the host was really good, really helpful. We had an issue with our van breaking down so came down the following day with a tent, really helpful in accommodating us with no extra fees. Facilities were good, great views and local knowledge.

Ik was niet blij met Couldn’t park the car next to the tent which was difficult getting it back up to the camping field as it was so slippery. Chris couldn’t really help that!!
Consideration of allowing awnings due to the inclement weather?

Ik was blij met The views, stunning. The local dogs, cockerels and peacocks, beautiful. The one toilet I used was clean!

Ik was niet blij met Road noise, Green Man Festival rave in the middle of the night and the lack of toilets. The one near the tent was out of use due to the lack of water cos of the drought but even if it was in use, it's not enough if there are a lot of people. The one we used (by the house) was great but not close enough and had a shower, so if the shower was in use you wouldn't have access to the toilet.

If all was working I still think it was over priced.

Van de manager: So sorry that we were not available when you arrived at the site. You were obviously not informed about the new facilities in the new barn which are within 100 m of the Camping field. The toilet on the field is purely a compost facility which does not need water and there taps with water adjacent to this toilet if required. In total there are four toilets, Three electric showers which are not restricted and we have never had this problem in the past so I apologise for not being made aware of the full facilities we have an offer and the fact that we were unable to meet you and inform you of the many walks and special features we have at our unique site, hope you return to enjoy all the facilities next time

Ik was niet blij met The pitches for camper vans were quite small so it didn’t feel very private.badic facilities considering the cost.

That is the first review making those type of comments so not sure what the problem was we have room for 10 vans and there are two yards - one of which is only used if people want extra space and privacy
Also the new toilet and shower facilities are normally highly appreciated so can’t understand why you were not happy
So sorry for your bad experience but it does go against the normal standard

Ik was blij met We loved everything about this family-run site. The owners were incredibly welcoming and genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great stay. They even offered to pick up anything we needed from the local shop, which was such a thoughtful touch.

There was a trampoline and a swing for the children, but the animals were by far the highlight of our visit. They made the stay really special and our family absolutely loved spending time with them.

We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly, peaceful campsite with a personal touch.

If it’s time to get active in the bracing Brecon Beacons air, pack yourselves off to Llangorse Multi Activity Centre (10 minutes’ drive) to test your mettle on rope courses and indoor climbing walls (the latter is a useful option if the weather turns on you) or go pony trekking on heather-covered foothills. There are several golf courses within 20 minutes’ drive, while competitive types can race each other around the off-road track at Battle MX (20 minutes) motocross track. Black Mountain Activities (20 minutes) is the place for all things water-related – here you can have a go at canoeing and gorge walking. For gentle family-friendly ambles with scenic views, Llangorse Lake (15 minutes) has waymarked trails around its shoreline, while the track through dramatic Clydach Gorge (25 minutes) leads past an old tramway to the long-abandoned remains of ironworks and quarries. To delve into local history, take a tour of the monumental Norman tower and mellow-stone medieval mansion at Tretower Court and Castle (10 minutes) – once the hangout of Welsh bards – and if you fancy a day rummaging in the bookshops of Hay-on-Wye, the market town is a half-hour’s drive away.
