Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

Ik was niet blij met Whilst the actual facilities were mostly clean there could have been some more attention to detail. Cobwebs on windows, very dusty in places. Looked a bit unloved. Not a huge problem but felt a shame.

Ik was blij met Nothing to dislike. What a fabulous view from this place! It had showers and toilets, wash-up, water etc.
Met fabulous, friendly and helpful people. Went home a day early only because the weather turned.
Couldn’t fault it.
Will go back.

Ik was blij met Fantastically located with a short drive or walk into New Quay and a stunning view of the sea. Pitches were all level and staff really helpful and friendly. While we didn't have dogs with us, it was really nice to see them accommodated with a dog park to allow them to run around. All in all, a lovely site.

Ik was niet blij met The only potential issues are that the showers require change to be used which we weren't aware of on arrival.

Ik was blij met views were lovely. toilets were clean.

Ik was niet blij met Travelling in a motorhome as a mature couple. The field is a mix of touring caravans, tents and motorhomes. We were next to a tent with 2 young girls who talked loudly and laughed until 3am in the morning. groups of boys were also loud and walking around in the small hours. The toilet block did not have enough showers and toilets for the amount of people staying at the site.
Dogs were not on leads and were left to walk around. my husband 2 dogs jumping up on him as he was walking past to the toilet block. I have never been to a camping site where dogs were left to roam around.

Van de manager: Thank you for your review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the fantastic views and our clean facilities. With regard to your complaints. We do have strict policies regarding dogs and noise disturbances and ask for dogs to be kept on leads at all times. Each customer is advised of these policies by way of the written information provided on arrival. Unfortunately we are not always aware of such disregard and urge customers to advise us of such incidences at the time rather than after the event via a review, If we had been made aware, then of course we would have dealt with the situation immediately.
Thanks again for staying with us and sorry we did not meet your expectations due to the alleged inconsideration of other campers.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
