Grandtully Station Campsite

Ik was blij met: Great facilities, the staff were friendly and helpful, the village is a 2 minute walk away with a couple of restaurants / hotels. We actually chose the site as a reviewer complained the hotel doesn't allow dogs in the restaurant!

Lovely walks near the site. Activities on the river if you are stopping longer. There were a few children on the site and they looked to be having a great time on their bikes.

We needed a stopover on our way to Skye and this site fit the bill, especially as we used the Tourist Route to Pitlochry to get off the A9. Would probably use again if travelling this way.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Key code on the showers/toilets as well as the gate. We assume there has been a problem in the past with people not staying sneaking in to use facilities.

Could do with a bigger sign if approaching from Aberfeldy.

I am really sorry to hear that you didn't not want to stay at our little site. I am looking at the CCTV and I can see your vehicle parked in bright sunlight so I am very confused and saddened about you having marked us a 1/10 (our worst score ever and the only 1/10 we have ever received) because the pitch was "very shady".

We are 100% committed to providing excellent customer service and we always endeavour to resolve any issues for our valued guests in a fast and friendly manner at the time they arise. I really wish that you had expressed your problem with the pitch to our team member on shift at the time, he would have been more than happy to move you to another pitch as we did have others suitable for a large vehicle available that night.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy the site and felt you had to leave immediately without talking to us. However I do not feel that a claim that the pitch is "shady" warrants the low scores you have provided across the board. I note that you have even given us the lowest score possible for child friendliness despite the fact that you did not even have a child with you.

Ik was blij met: Everything. Great division between tents and motorhomes and nicely spaced out pitches. Nice, well looked after site and the facilities were the best we’ve experienced in Scotland

Ik was niet zo blij met: Communal facilities were dirty and poorly designed. Still no clear idea why the 2 blocks could not be separated for men/women? No separate wash basins. Pitch facing a wood fence - felt like sleeping in a car park, and less than inspiring. Not informed that only one wash station was in use

Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. We are very sorry that you found our facilities dirty. We take pride in our facility and we thoroughly clean the facilities daily as well as spot check and clean them throughout the day where needed. We have only ever received full or near to full marks on cleanliness so I am sorry that we fell short of our high standards on this occasion.

All of our toilets and showers are self contained units with nudity prohibited in the exterior shared areas, with CCTV cameras monitoring the shared areas for safety. Each section is non gendered for operational efficiency and has (as well as the basins in the cubicles) 2 separate wash basins in each section.

We stay open right through the winter so for 6 months we have pretty low numbers. If we only have a few tent campers and a few campervan campers then we only need to heat and clean one section per level. This system also means that when we are busy and both sections of each level are required we can clean each one in turn and our guests will still have facilities including accessible bathrooms to use on each level.

The fact that we have unisex facilities is well advertised on our PitchUp listing in the hope that people who do require gendered bathrooms will be able to make an informed choice about whether this site is right for them or not.

Ik was blij met: Good stop if you’re needing facilities while traveling Perthshire, as I did following a sweaty hike. Scotland needs more campgrounds with facilities as wild camping and the “right to roam” often mean finding a shower is impossible, so I do really welcome this practical option with nice new, clean facilities.

There are two very nice pubs/cocktail bars in town. They are refreshingly upmarket, so if you fancy a proper cocktail and/or chef’s menu, you’re in luck!

Ik was niet zo blij met: It feels a bit automated and corporate as there are lots of security cameras and codes to enter to get in/out of certain areas. Screenshot your emails so you have the codes on arrival!

I got lucky with campervan pitch 2, which was tucked away at the corner (although this meant no WiFi… and my EE had no signal there either). But if I had been in most of the other campervan pitches, I’d have felt quite packed together with others. Totally fine for a 1-2 night stop while taking advantage of facilities, but if you’re looking for something a bit more wild, open and spacious to disconnect from civilization, this isn’t a great option. But it’s a great stopover on your way to/from the wild.
