When it comes to cliff-top locations, Castle Bay Holiday and Residential Park has got it well-and-truly sorted. Less than 20 minutes’ walk along the coastal path from the postcard-pretty village of Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway, the hardstanding pitches here have spectacular views over Dunskey Castle and the Irish Sea at Castle Bay. This peaceful, family-run and family-friendly holiday park has well-maintained facilities to keep you all comfortable, and it makes a smashing base for exploring the scenic coastline and surrounding countryside on foot, bike or by car. The owners are also on hand to give you the inside info on local shops, restaurants and pubs. Access to the site is via a secured gate, so you and yours will always be safe and secure at Castle Bay. All you need to do is relax, enjoy those sea views and perhaps have a gentle wander down to a harbour-side pub in Portpatrick.

Ik was blij met Fabulous views, nice grass pitch, easy going site without too many signs for a refreshing change. Lots of nice walks and lanes for cycling, never too busy.

Highly recommend to stay here.

Ik was blij met Loved the brilliant pitch looking over the Irish Sea. The welcome we received was 1st class. The pitch was a large hard standing pitch with loads of room to sit out and enjoy the view.
Slept great. Very peaceful.
Facilitys were clean.

Ik was niet blij met Nothing to dislike.

Ik was blij met The scenery was to die for. There's even a small castle to explore nearbye . There lovely walks to the village Port Patrick where there's local bands playing and often markets and activities going on. There's an extra walk to the left down hill across a bridge and up again. Good excersize and well worth doing.
We will definitely go again and have enquired about a seasonal pitch.

Ik was niet blij met Distance to facilities which were poor.
No washing and washing up facilities are basic . Area looked half finished.
Showers modern but no controls , push button .
Chemical toilet facilities very basic and smelly, also blocked at one stage.
Large garbage bins overflowing.
Reception often unavailable.
For a campsite the touring facities are not great and no disabled radar key .
The front hardstanding are lovely for view but getting fewer!
Such a shame as not really good value.

Stayed many many times. Back Aug again Pitchup easy to use.

Ik was blij met Love this site. Every time I’ve stayed had a great relaxing time. Will definitely stay again. Would highly recommend. Clean and tidy site, facilities are of same standard. Views are stunning and walks are great.

Ik was blij met The booking was straightforward, the reception was very welcoming, the site, and grounds and all facilities were clean and tidy, very relaxing place to unwind, lots of walks and ample of attractions to look at , very nice quiet friendly place, with friendly people, that made my stay comfortable and relaxing.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Take a stroll through the lush waterside plantings at Logan Botanic Garden (half an hour’s drive), where – thanks to the warming presence of the Gulf Stream – palms and eucalyptus trees thrive, while loch-side walks at Castle Kennedy Gardens (25 minutes) lead to the photogenic ruins of a castle and swathes of colourful rhododendrons (the latter in spring). When the kids need a relaxing run around in the fresh Scottish air, take them to Agnew Park (15 minutes) for go-karting, boating and expeditions aboard a mini train. There are walking and cycling trails for all abilities in Galloway Forest Park (45 minutes), where you could also surprise youngsters with feeding the goats at the Wild Goat Park (50 minutes). There are golf courses and fishing lakes within half an hour’s drive, and if you hit an odd rainy day (this being south-west Scotland), pay a visit to the fighter jets in their hangars at Stoneykirk Aviation Museum (15 minutes).
