Like the sound of pods with private decking by a loch? Then you'll no doubt be rather taken with Loch Awe Camping Pods, a modern, small-scale site on the peaceful banks of Loch Awe. You'll want to head to this secluded spot if wild fishing, mountain explores and lochside campfires are on your bucket list… The accommodation here is stylish, spacious and self-contained: each unit contains comfortable sleeping quarters as well as a heater, kettle, microwave, fridge and outdoor seating area. They're also well insulated, so you're pretty sure to be warm and toasty here whatever the time of year. Oh, and this could be the deal-clincher – all the pods have direct access to the gorgeous loch shore. Once you've settled down for a waterside stay, sorting practicalities is a doddle. Loch Awe Camping Pods guests have access to communal facilities including two individual toilets with coin-operated showers and a coin-operated laundry area that's open 24 hours a day. Guests wishing to fish must purchase a permit in advance (contact the site when booking for details). Loch Awe Camping Pods is a few minutes' walk from Dalavich's shop and café and next to Lochview Bar and Grill (seasonal opening hours), where there's a playground for any kids you've brought along. Jaunts further afield can also be sorted with ease, whether you're heading for the Highlands, aiming for the islands via the ferry port of Oban (50 minutes' drive) or fancy a day at the beach.

  • Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.
  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro).   • Voertuigen met tandemas zijn niet toegestaan op deze camping.
  • Auto's/motoren zijn niet toegestaan op de staplaats/bij de accommodatie. Deze moeten worden geparkeerd op de daarvoor bestemde plekken.
  • Continentale caravans (caravans met de passagiersdeur aan de rechterkant) zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Tenten zijn niet toegestaan op het park.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • In de gemeenschappelijke ruimtes moeten te allen tijde mondkapjes worden gedragen.
  • Dit is een rustige plek: muziek is strikt verboden.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Er is geen open vuur toegestaan in de gehuurde accommodaties.

Ik was blij met: Absolutely amazing pod, everything we needed all in the one place! The site is beautiful, the place was so clean, the showers and bathrooms were very clean and the club house was great!

Ik was blij met: Nice location with clean pods nice clean toilet and shower blocks with access to laundry.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Feels like it is only set up to take as much money as possible off travelers/ fishing with not a lot offered in return.Not welcoming to fishing with questionable advice given on site. Very poor amenities. No shop after 5 pm unless 30 miles round trip

Ik was blij met: Our second time at the pods and no complaints. Had a brilliant night in the community club, everyone was welcoming and spoke to us. Pods themselves are clean, neat and it was cosy with our bedding through the night. The view is amazing as well.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Would have preferred some gripper mats on the decking due to how icy it was and being 7 months pregnant. And potentially some cutlery available in the pod.

Ik was blij met: The location of the pods, stunning views, easy access to the loch.

Beds were comfy, pod was warm and had pride and kettle.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The stairs down to the pods , they were a bit slippy on the rain

Ik was blij met: A beautiful, peaceful and relaxing find! The pod was lovely, clean and cozy, with beautiful views over the loch and nestled on the side of a hill under trees. With a communal fire pit and seating areas along the shore. The community centre where the facilities is has a bar with pool table and other games for children to play on while the adults sit in front of the log burner. The village itself also has a lovely little cafe that sells everything you need just incase you have forgotten anything.

Dalavich is 14 miles from the turn off at Taynuilt which is a left turn just before you enter the village of Taynuilt. As you approach Dalavich from Taynuilt direction you will cross River Avich on a right hand bend over the bridge and shortly after, you'll see a sign for Dalavich on the left hand side of the road.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Walks, watersports and hikes around Loch Awe are all immediately accessible here, and if you're feeling adventurous you could even paddle over to the island of Innis Chonnel for another view of the area. Loch Avich, roughly 10 minutes’ drive away, is also close by and has more opportunities for rambling and admiring the ruins of long-gone medieval castles and crannogs. For more history, head to Dunadd Fort (35 minutes), an Iron Age hillfort believed to have been the centre of the ancient kingdom of Dal Riata, which emerged in this part of Argyll after the Romans abandoned their hopes of conquering Scotland. If you like your castles to be a bit more intact, you should try Kilchurn Castle (45 minutes) or Dunstaffnage Castle and its equally impressive chapel (50 minutes). The planned town of Inveraray (an hour and 10 minutes) should also be on your itinerary, whether you're intrigued by its past as a clan seat, its gorgeous castle gardens, the historic jailhouse and neoclassical buildings or are on the lookout for a starting point for exploring the coastal shores of Loch Fyne.
