Boyd Valley Lake

Ik was blij met: Wonderful site. Was able to park my car next to my tent as the weather was dry. Car park close by if it’s boggy.
Quiet time of year so not many other guests and had my pick of where to pitch. I chose close to the upper large pond and it had a sturdy picnic table nearby.
I did see fire pits supplied dotted around.
Pitch was level and grass/trees/shrubs well maintained.
Plenty of birds and wildlife, so if you are ok with being woken early this is the place.
Car and walking track ample for the size of the site.
There looks to be work going on for a new fishing pond but there was no out of hours construction noise that I could tell.
Recycling and bin area with an ample washing up area and plenty of water taps around.
Shower and toilets were ok(ish)
I can’t comment on the fishing though as I wasn’t there for that. It did mean that there weren’t too many children on the site.
Nearby farm shop but nothing on-site.
Will definitely be back.

Ik was blij met: Easy to find.

Ik was niet zo blij met: There were a lot of permanent caravans on the site, taking up a whole field that was advertised for camping. Facilities were not clean, rubbish bins overflowing. The site owner was in the filed right next to our tent using a digger until 8.30pm, very noisy all evening. Not ideal with young children. There was loud voices in the evening. We didn't feel welcome on the site.

As advertised on our website, we’re currently in the process of constructing a new lake, which has required significant work on-site. We understand that this may have caused some disturbance and we’re doing our best to manage the impact while improving the site for future guests.

Ik was blij met: We got dumped into a rocky carpark and left with no toilets/shower access

Ik was niet zo blij met: No communication, no actual pitch available so we were put in the carpark with no facilities. Woken up by a load of men going fishing parking around us. Just an awful experience

Ik was blij met: The fact that we didn't call until about 7pm and the owner still left us turn up.
Very quiet location not too far out of Bath. Only £13

Ik was niet zo blij met: The area is very muddy. Wellies required.
The facilities were the worst I've ever encountered. The toilet was absolutely disgusting.

Ik was blij met: Reasonable price for the night and a toilet. Lovely walk around the lake (wellies needed)

Ik was niet zo blij met: It had rained in the lead up to our stay which left the fields too muddy for us to drive onto. To prevent us getting stuck in the mud, we stayed in the car park. We tried calling the given number when we arrived but had no signal. There were various comings and going after 10pm. There was a toilet block but no hot water to wash hands. I did read you could get hot water in the shower. The kitchen area is an outdoor wooden area so was very damp, mouldy and smelly. I chose not to wash any dishes here.

Ik was blij met: Great site close to local pubs and a fantastic farm shop for breakfast. Owner was very friendly and helpful
