Your 'darling buds' should blossom at Primrose Fields in Dorset. This small and friendly site is just a five-minute drive from Wareham, the ape rescue centre Monkey World and The Tank Museum in Bovington. Spectacular Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coast is also only a 15-minute drive away. There are great walking and cycling routes from the site, such as the Frome Valley trail, the Hardy Way and National Cycle Route 2. Make the most of starry nights and campfires on the peaceful wildflower meadow, which has views of Dorset heathland. Set up base by venerable oak trees and let the children play on the rope swing or chase butterflies. There are wild surroundings, but with the comfort of clean and well-maintained facilities. Pitches at Primrose Fields aren't set, so you can make your camp anywhere in the wildlife meadow, picking a spot by the forest or one with heathland views. Most of the field is flat for easy pitching. Walkers, cyclists, watersporters, couples, families and kids are all welcome on site. Campfires are allowed within firepits, with sustainably sourced wood and charcoal available to buy. Firepits and large barbecues are available for use on site. For food and supplies, nearby Wareham has a good selection of shops, cafés and pubs. A café and farm shop are about a mile away. For pizza, there's a takeaway in Wareham that can deliver handmade Neapolitan-style pizzas directly to the site.

Ik was blij met Friendly helpful owner who kept everything very clean. Lovely forest walks and easy bus access. Hot water easily available.

Ik was niet blij met When very busy at w/e 3 showers meant queuing at peak times!

Ik was blij met Peaceful, with 11pm limit to noise. Exactly as desired.

Welcomed warmly by Scott who directed us to best site available (with shade as weather was hot), we were nicely spaced out, site was flat.
Toilets were very clean and paper and soap provided.

Recommended if you like quiet and space.

Ik was niet blij met Nothing disliked, but probably needs more showers when busy.

Ik was blij met Third time I’ve been to Primrose Fields and it’s as good as I remember, if not better with the addition of the new reception area and shower/ washing area upgrades. I would recommend it time and again when visiting Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Corfe Castle. Thanks for having us again guys!

Ik was blij met The site is Large lots of space to park up and pitch up your tent and clean site, plenty of access to fresh cold water even in the heat the water was cold. Buckets available for you to have water in to keep by tent whilst cooking to put out any potential fires due to the extreamly dry hot weather. Toilets were always clean and plenty of them. Shower's were always clean and very spacious tha addition of the shelves were great to put you toiletries and clothing on. Recycling area for Recyclables. Quiet area. Staff/Owners were lovely chatty and could have a laugh with which is great. Would definitely stay again. Only advice would be that there are only 3 showers so had to wait a while at times on an evening/night for shower so might be beneficial to add the number of showers and a few more seating options if waiting for the shower

Ik was blij met Simple camping. Lovely owners who were always on site making sure everything was running smoothly.

Ik was niet blij met Could only be made better by a nice toilet and shower block. Portaloos were always clean but not as nice as a real toilet.

Ik was blij met Great atmosphere and friendly staff on arrival. Lots of space to for the kids to run around. Clean facilities, yes there's portable toilets but these are kept insanely clean and washed out daily. No issues would stay here again anytime.

Primrose Fields is the second gate on the left-hand side up Primrose Farm Lane, which is 50 yards to the east of the Black Dog Inn off the A352 between Wareham and Wool. By train: Waterloo-Weymouth train to nearby Wool or Wareham, then take the bus to the site (see below). It's possible to cycle/hike from the train stations; please use Bindon Lane/Holme Lane (not the A352) for a safer and more scenic journey. By bus: Jurassic Breezer/Coaster buses stop at the Church Lane/A352 junction, approximately a 10-minute walk on pavements and footpaths.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

There's lots to do around this site without even firing up the car engine: the Frome Valley Trail is close at hand and quiet country lanes are just the ticket for gentle cycling. There are excellent Jurassic Breezer/Coaster bus services from the Church Lane/A352 junction (around 10 minutes' walk); ride the bus to Wareham, Lulworth Cove, Swanage or Weymouth (perhaps for the Weymouth to Swanage section of the South West Coast Path). Take a picnic or a catch of local fish and chips down to the grassy riverbank opposite the quay in Wareham (five minutes' drive) or wander around the town's Saxon defence walls. Another good walk is the Two Rivers route down to the backwaters of Poole Harbour, but if you’d rather get out on the water than look at it, hire a canoe, kayak or paddleboard for lazy drifting up the Frome. If you do decide to drive, the beaches, countryside and attractions of Purbeck and West Dorset are a short distance away. Other splendid spots are the RSPB Arne nature reserve (15 minutes), old Corfe Castle (10 minutes) and a steam train from the castle surrounds to the seaside resort of Swanage. North of Swanage is the sandy National Trust-managed Studland Bay (20 minutes).
