Flowerdew Farm

Ik was blij met We liked the laid back atmosphere and rural setting.
Only stayed one night but we found it had a friendly relaxed feel to it.
I liked the compost toilet and the cosy barn set up as a sitting room, with the use of a fridge and freezer.
Also liked the llamas.

Ik was niet blij met Currently only one shower on site, so if we hadn't had our own shower in our camper van might have found that a bit frustrating .However, was aware of that when booking.
Also had a disturbed night with someone who'd been evicted off the site trying to regain entry, but I understand this was a one off unusual incident outside the owners control.

Ik was blij met Good communication from the host, Claire. Lovely environment and great animal experiences on offer. The animals' welfare is clearly top priority for Claire.

Great setting, close to nice places to visit, and comfortable tent.

Ik was niet blij met The toilet facilities were adequate but slightly uncomfortable e.g. the lights inside the toilet didn't work, the tap was difficult to use.

Ik was blij met 3rd Visit to Flowerdew and had a great time. This is an off grid site with an eco vibe. No big fancy facilities and thats exactly how it is described. Saturday was very busy, as a expected, but Claire did a grand job keeping things ticking over. The composting toilet is a wonderful new addition. Had a wonderful animal experience with 'The Girls' and Shirley and Valentine. Already planning next year. Keep doing what you are doing Claire.

We are a quiet site and we do give warning and notice that Saturdays and peak times are normally fully booked and are busier than normal, this was also shared along with the T&Cs and confirmation email on booking. We also allocate plenty of room and fire safety. We do kindly ask guests to talk to owners, if anyone can be moved, or needs more space, we can always try and accommodate. But we cant if we don't know on site at the time. We also show you to your pitch and ask everyone if their pitch is OK. So please do talk to us, as its hard to meet everyones requirements unless we know at the time.

Ik was niet blij met The facilities are very basic and limited in number, especially when the site is full. Only one shower and three portaloos.

We have ample toilets and bring in extras at peak times and we also have a compost toilet, which we clean and carefully check at all times. Along with only 1 x shower is listed on our facilities, listing and on our confirmation email when you book. We are also waiting on planning to go ahead and improve our facilities. We do recommend please reading our confirmation email and T&Cs, along with other sites that you may visit, as these are clearly listed when you book.

Ik was blij met Cosy, friendly and welcoming host (Claire) with pleasant guests also.

Our 10 year old boy felt comfortable and wants to go back, saying it’s friendly.

Great it’s sustainable / self sufficient. If we were there longer than one might and needed showers, perhaps the wait times for the one shower could be annoying if a larger group was also waiting. But not issues for us.

Nice to have fire pits and wood provided and the lounge area with games for chilling and charging devices if you need it.

And nice to have lama’s close by!

Overall, we’d like to go back soon!

We love our eco sustainable and back to basics campsite. We do list only 1 x shower on all our online travel sites, website and clearly listed on our facilities, listing and on our confirmation email when you book. We are also waiting on planning to go ahead and improve our facilities. We do recommend please reading our confirmation email and T&Cs, along with other sites that you may visit, as these are clearly listed when you book. We definitely hope in the future to improve and we truly hope to see such lovely guests again. We also had our portaloo changed, so they do not bang anymore.

Ik was blij met The goats and alpaca. The clear easy recycling on site. The stable lounge area for hanging out in if the weather was poor (as people with a small tent we really appreciated this).

Ik was blij met Lovely site, with a very warm welcome. Eco-friendly and back-to-basics approach, which works really well thanks to the enormous hard work and attention to detail of the owner Claire. The facilities are kept scrupulously clean. We did the meet and greet and tour of the animals, which is totally recommended. With the personal approach and very generous amount of time that Claire gives, it is fascinating, fun and good value.

Ik was niet blij met toilet facilities (compostable loo as advertised)
Overcrowded when full at the weekend
Basic washing up area, no hot water.

We certainly are not overcrowded as we adhere to a licence and pitch numbers, but we do now advise on our confirmation email that Saturdays and peak times are busier than usual. We also kindly advise that it would talk to owners/staff when on site, if we can accommodate more room, or its not the site for you, I as I am sure most sites will offer an alternative, or even a refund. Washing up, we advise can use hot water from the shower, or we provide a kettle in our stables rest area.
