Setting off for the seaside at Sidmouth? It’s an excellent choice for a holiday destination, whether you’re travelling in a couple, bringing the family or simply setting off for a bit of a break on your own. And an equally excellent choice is a stay at Salcombe Regis Camping and Caravan Park – quite possibly the closest holiday park to Sidmouth. This spacious and well-kept park is about two miles from the seaside town, in a quiet spot surrounded by the lovely scenery of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Settle yourselves in here (and feel free to bring the dog, by the way) and you’ll be in a prime position for making the most of your east Devon location, taking in hotspots all along the Jurassic Coast, heading out for rural rambles and/or packing in family attractions like The Donkey Sanctuary, Pecorama and Crealy Theme Park (or seeking out gardens and National Trust properties, if that’s more your thing…) Spending a bit of time on site isn’t a bad plan either – this family-friendly park has a putting green, a play area and plenty of space for ball games and general running about. On a more practical front, there’s a small food shop, a launderette, a washing-up area and a chemical disposal area, as well as a heated amenities block with toilets and free hot showers.

Ik was blij met: Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean facilities, excellent showers and toilets within easy reach of all pitches. Great walks down to the beach, Sidmouth and the Donkey Sanctuary. Badminton, table tennis and putting on site too. Easy to get too from main road.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Pitches slightly sloped, but not too bad.

Ik was blij met: I arrived late due to the M5 ( never ) lol. But this wasn’t a problem, rang the on site number and Pete arrived in seconds. Nice plot with all the services. Good nights sleep, woke to find a well laid out site with two main shower/ toilet blocks in fantastic and clean almost new condition with hot water. Easy access to the site with number plate recognition up to 8pm . You can leave site anytime

Ik was blij met: The site was clean and tidy and the member of staff we had contact with was very knowledgeable

Ik was niet zo blij met: To remote for us our fault in choosing it. Lots of dog's and children the dogs had a a bark off early doors 6-7 am which woke us up kids were fine ( I am a huge dog lover) no late buses back from Sidmouth 19.58 was the last one no taxis available and the road was to full of traffic to walk back so we stayed in the Motorhome every night suits some not us. If the site was full to capacity don’t know how the showers and toilets would cope as only a few at each end of the site but were spotless all the time

Ik was blij met: - Lovely dog park but very sloped. Dogs loved it. - Clean and grass well maintained.

Ik was niet zo blij met: - Most expensive 2 nights we've paid for so far which doesn't mean better stay. BEWARE wifi is extra at £5 for 24 hours or £10 for 48 hours (up to 5 devices). Extras not mentioned on website. - I thought attendant joked when signing in at reception that shower facilities were free. They've obviously thought about charging. We've never had to pay for showers anywhere, not even when camping. - Photos misleading. - Mixed toilet/bathroom facilities. - Large gap under toilet / bathroom doors leading directly to outdoors, left open to elements even though it has underfloor heating??? Not climate friendly. - Whole site on a slope, not shown / avoided in photos.

Ik was blij met: Perfect location and extremely clean, staff wee very friendly and helpful. The campsite is set in beautiful picturesque Devon surroundings with absolutely stunning view point on the site. This is one of the best sites I’ve stayed at this year.

Ik was blij met: The situation of the site, the cleanliness, quietness (possibly much busier in peak season) and staff were lovely and helpful.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Camp wifi obviously not adequate. Even though the campsite was quiet it was crashing. This wouldn’t have been a problem but I’d paid to join it as coverage for mobiles wasn’t good.

Ik was blij met: Location was really good, very well kept site grass is cut regularly so no wet feet. Dogs are welcome and there is large well mowed field for their exercise with very helpful staff who really do care that you enjoy your stay. The shower and toilets are the cleanest we have ever had on a site.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Sidmouth (five minutes’ drive) has long been popular with all sorts of visitors – it’s got sandy beaches, watersports and access to the South West Coast Path for those who’d like to stretch their legs. If the weather’s not up to much, nip inside to the Sidmouth Toy & Model Museum, browse the shops or sign up for the Sidmouth Gin School. Even closer by, The Donkey Sanctuary (three minutes) is hugely popular with visitors young and not-so-young, and it’s got a lovely café too. For more kid-friendly outings, try the trains, zipwires, shell grotto and bug hotel at Pecorama (10 minutes) or steel yourselves for the rides at Crealy Theme Park (20 minutes). Elsewhere along the Jurassic Coast, you might like to ride the tramway in Seaton (15 minutes), go mackerel fishing from Lyme Regis (20 minutes) or visit the intriguing 16-sided A La Ronde National Trust estate (25 minutes). For more beaches, try Budleigh Salterton (20 minutes) or head round to Dawlish (45 minutes).
