A Devon countryside location with convenient road access? Take a look at Stover Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, in a mighty handy spot just a short way from the A382 and the A38 (Devon Expressway) and 10 minutes' drive from Newton Abbot.
You may be only a short way off the main road here but you’ll also be in a wonderfully peaceful location right next to Stover Country Park and its landscapes of mature woodland and lakes. That means access to gentle woodland strolls (with your dog, if you’ve brought one) whenever you feel like it, or even a guided tour with professional staff who know all about the native flora and fauna.
Fittingly for a country park setting, the grounds are open and airy at this site, and the pitches are well kept and spacious (feel free to set up an awning, gazebo and camping table if you wish). Set up specifically with touring vehicles in mind, the site has a chemical disposal point and motorhome service area, but please note there are no guest toilets or showers.
This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, and open to both members (who benefit from special rates) and non-members. Please note the price displayed is for members, so non-members will need to pay the £15 per night extra or sign up for membership.
Heading out and about, you’ll be able to get to Dartmoor National Park in a few minutes’ drive for walks around its scenic landscapes, or down to the coast around Torquay in about half an hour. Closer to home, Trago Mills (five minutes’ drive) is a handy local source of shops and family fun.

- Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 25 meter nodig.
- Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
- Commerciële voertuigen (voertuigen die gebruikt worden voor werk en/of het vervoeren van goederen of betalende passagiers) en voertuigen met reclameboodschappen zijn verboden op het terrein.
- If you choose the membership option, your membership details will be issued within five working days once the booking is fully paid. A 14-day cooling-off period from the booking date allows for cancellation of the membership and a refund of any fees paid.

Leave M5 at junction 31 and continue onto the A38 (signposted Plymouth). In about 11 miles leave the A38 via slip road onto A382 (signposted Newton Abbot). In 360 metres pass the entrance to Country Park on your left. The Site entrance is on the left immediately past the roundabout. Do not take any other turning from the A38 signposted to Newton Abbot until the A382 junction.

After you’ve had a bit of a stroll around the country park, it may be time to set your sights on the trails of Dartmoor National Park. Some of the popular local spots include the watery sights of Canonteign Falls 10 minutes’ drive) and Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park (15 minutes) or the intriguing Haytor Rocks (15 minutes).
If you’ve got the family with you, perhaps also plan outings to places like The Devon Bird of Prey Centre and Pennywell Farm (both 15 minutes) or Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (25 minutes). A day on the beach in Torquay (half an hour) is likely to be popular with all ages too, as is a wander around Babbacombe Model Village & Gardens (25 minutes).
Closer to home, Trago Mills (five minutes) is a very handy thing to have just up the road – there’s a huge shopping centre here along with a garden centre (which is home to 12 show gardens) and the Bickington Steam Railway.
