Owl Valley Glamping

Ik was blij met The beautiful setting, so peaceful and quiet. The tent, cooking facilities and outdoor kitchen were fantastic. All cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery were supplied. Shower was lovely and hot and good pressure.
Wonderful dark skies for stargazing.
Chris was lovely and friendly, he met us in the car park and took all our luggage to our accommodation for us in his quad bike trailer as it’s a small hilly walk to the tent.
Nothing seemed like too much trouble.

Ik was niet blij met This is entirely a ‘me problem’ but the spiders in/around the shower and toilet! 😳But, as I say, that’s my issue nothing to do with the campsite. By the end of the weekend I’d learned to ignore them all!

Ik was blij met An absolutely amazing find!

The beautiful tawny cabin had been built by the owner themselves and was absolutely amazing- what a skill to have!

Tucked away in the woods, it felt like a magical little hideaway and we will definitely be back!

The owners were lovely- present but not overbearing and incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The hot tub was emptied, cleaned, re-filled and re-heated everyday and made for such an amazing addition.

The set up inside was perfect- a big bed tucked under the loft area, a futon downstairs, and two single futon style beds upstairs, making it perfect for families.

The gas shower outside was really hot and well-thought out, with thoughtful additions, like hooks to hang your towel on and a slate shelf for your soap, and a waney edge bench outside the curtain for your clothes.

The BBQ area was undercover and again, had a beautiful waney edge timber table for all your cooking utensils and food to go on while you BBQd.

The kitchen was very clever, with a sink with a plug, a two ring gas stove and loads of utensils.

A small path running alongside the cabin connected the units and led to a communal area, including a pool table etc.

Amazing attention to detail everywhere. Just stunning!

We visited in late July, but I can imagine in the Autumn/ Winter, this cabin could make for an amazing stay, with the log-burner inside and the hot tub outside in the colder air!

But a couple of tips for travellers:
Take power banks, there is no mains electric in the cabin.
We had okay signal on Vodafone, but almost 0 on O2.
Parking is not directly outside the accommodation, but the owner will meet you with a trailer and quad bike and take all your luggage down for you!

Ik was blij met We had an absolutely fantastic stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. The location is beautiful, tucked away in a peaceful wooded area where you can really switch off and enjoy nature. It was so quiet and relaxing, yet there was plenty for the children to enjoy.

Chris was an exceptional host. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he was always happy to help with anything we needed. He was so warm and friendly that our children would get excited every time they heard him coming past on his quad bike and would run over to say hello. It really added a personal touch to the whole experience.

The facilities were exactly what we were hoping for. This isn’t a five-star hotel, and that’s exactly the charm of the place. It’s a true glamping experience with a lovely back-to-nature feel, while still having everything you need for a comfortable stay. We left feeling relaxed and already talking about coming back.

Ik was niet blij met The only downside was the horseflies, but Chris explained that they are only around for a few weeks each year, so it’s very much a seasonal issue rather than something that would put us off returning.

Ik was blij met most beautiful peaceful getaway , everything was spotless and the kitchen area and pod had everything we need and so so clean ! chris the owner was so friendly and welcoming also ! so perfect i even got engaged here ! most perfect weekend (we will be back !!) would highly recommend to anyone

Ik was blij met The place if so well though out. Small features that make a massive difference. The host is extremely attentive and lovely. We're looking forwards to return. Worth every penny and much more.

Ik was blij met It was very peaceful, the setting is stunning, the hosts were lovely and helpful from arrival to departure, the hot tub water is changed daily and pre heated for you to adjust to your preferred temperature (by adding cold water). The sound of the owls was lovely at night and the trickling stream was nice to listen to. Steves shack is a cool feature and we enjoyed a few games of pool and tried to play darts. The cooking area was well stocked and we enjoyed a meal cooked on the stove on both evenings of our stay. Lots of robins that land really close to you whilst you are relaxing outside your accommodation.

Ik was niet blij met There were a few small things we feel could have improved the overall experience for us, the main thing was the no electricity, we feel that 'glamping' should be a more luxurious experience with ample facilities to charge devices, watch TV etc, the toilet being compostable and not a flush as well as the outdoor shower which didn't get hot, lukewarm at most isn't up to 'glamping' standards. We aren't used to having to go outside to go to the toilet first thing in the morning and we felt that we have been to campsites with better facilities. The games shack didn't get enough light to be able to play darts, the pool table had a bit more light but would have had more if the perspex roof panels had been cleared of the build up of leaves. We tried all the fairy lights, torches and candles but it didn't really make much difference.
The bed was hard and we could feel the wooden frame under the mattress so had sore hips the following days from sleeping on it, also there were discrepancies from the photos advertised on the website and what was actually in the accommodation, the flooring was different, there was no mirror, the yellow sofa which was only in the last couple of photos was wobbly on one side.
There were a lot of spiders webs in both the games shack and the shower/toilet area which is to be expected given it's location so if you aren't a spider person this may not be the best place for you.
There is very little phone signal which we weren't too fussed about but some people might not like that.
I don't want to put people off at all because it's a nice place but these are the honest points to help others make a decision if this place is for them.
