Come along to a part of Cornwall where country meets coast: Looe Yurts is a rural site surrounded by gorgeous farmland and views over the valley to Looe, which is around a five-minute drive away. The South West Coast path is 250 metres away from here, so it’s easy to get out for walks to the beaches at Seaton and Millendreath or into Looe for shops, pubs and dog-friendly eateries galore. Paddleboarding, sea kayaking and a beachside bar/bistro are all within walking distance, as are plenty of places to get out for a rural ramble. Accommodation on site is in spacious yurts decked out with comfy beds, a woodburning stove and seating. Each one also has a private washroom with swish hot shower, and a deck area with outdoor seating for taking in the views. A barbecue is provided, and kitchen facilities and an indoor dining area are not far away for sorting meals should the weather not smile on such activities. It’s highly recommended that you spend a bit of time simply hanging out in the open air at this site – you’re likely to have a gentle soundtrack of sheep, goats and chickens going about their business, and you may just spot an owl or buzzard overhead. Come the evening, the lack of light pollution often leads to some splendid stargazing.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

As the Wild Futures monkey sanctuary is a minute’s drive from this park, there’s surely no excuse not to drop in and peer at the protected primates at this nonprofit establishment. Beaches and the coast in general are also easy to access: mosey to Millendreath for watersports aplenty or set off on sea-fishing trips from Looe harbour (both five minutes). For inland activities, amble to Adrenalin Quarry and make the most of the ziplines, open-water swimming and climbing here (15 minutes); more sedate times are to be had during visits to posh pads from days of yore like Lanhydrock House (half an hour) and the National Trust estate of Cotehele (35 minutes). Serene saunters around pretty Polperro fishing village (20 minutes), which has a heritage museum and model town to take a look at, also get a thumbs up across the board from travellers, while the Eden Project (40 minutes) is popular with botanical buffs who want to cast their eyes over plants sourced from across the planet.
