Kids wanting some seaside action while you fancy a rural bolthole? Problem solved, as at Treglisson Pods you’re in the middle of a peaceful orchard 15 minutes’ drive away from Gwithian Beach in Cornwall. So you have the best of both worlds: a quiet family retreat near many coastal attractions. The canine-friendly wooden cabin has everything you need for up to five guests. As well as a double bed, boat-themed bunks and a seascape mural, there’s plenty of open-plan living space into which a well-equipped kitchen corner, comfy sofa bed and an ensuite with a mains-powered shower have been inserted. Save on your packing too as bed linen, towels, bathrobes, crockery and utensils are provided – and there’s launderette for everyday chores. Kids have plenty to amuse themselves on site, from the mini adventure course to a pirate ship and toy cars in the covered play area. Dogs must be kept on a lead while on the site; for off-lead adventures, there are dog walks within walking distance of the site. During school holidays a small food shop provides the essentials, but there’s also a farm shop about five minutes away by car, and well-stocked supermarkets in Hayle (10 minutes’ drive). Staying at Treglisson Pods also puts you within 20 minutes’ drive of seafront bars, cosy bistros and country pubs.

Ik was blij met This is the first time of staying in this pod and I was not disappointed !
It was inviting and was very warm. Was well equipped for a pod with a comfy bed and loved the added addition of the bath robes, bathroom soaps and shampoo.
It was a lovely setting for myself and my dog who also had a lovely time being surrounded by woodland.

Headed for the beach? Gwithian (15 minutes’ drive) is a vast sandy stretch known for its surfing; likewise National Trust - Godrevy (10 minutes) is often the preserve of daredevil surfers riding large waves. If you’re after calmer waters for family swims, make for sheltered Carbis Bay (15 minutes), which has calm seas and gives access to the South West Coast Path if you’re feeling like a hike with spectacular views. When you’d rather practise your swing or putting skills, there’s a 12-hole golf course at Hayle (10 minutes’ walk), while keen birders can hike the marshy water meadows at RSPB Hayle Estuary Nature Reserve (10 minutes) to see egrets and oystercatchers as well as (an occasional) osprey. St Ives (20 minutes’ drive) is Cornwall culture central; explore the contemporary exhibitions at Tate St Ives, or inspect the weird and wonderful installations in the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. On the south coast, you can cross the sands at low tide to the medieval castle on St Michael’s Mount (also 20 minutes), and then explore the dinky seaside town of Marazion, which is filled with art galleries and bijou shops.
