Time in the Test Valley is time well spent – this lovely pocket of Hampshire is well-known for its scenery, clear chalk streams and gentle pace of life, making it just the spot for a laidback camping break. Stockbridge View, a quiet site near the Test Valley market town of Stockbridge, is conveniently located just off the A30. This back to basics choice is within easy reach of Winchester (20 minutes' drive), Salisbury (25 minutes), Stonehenge (25 minutes) and Southampton (35 minutes). The pitches here are set over a flat and grassy area that's bordered by trees and hedgerows. You can pitch up wherever you like at this laidback farm spot, and all parts of the site are a few minutes’ walk from good basic amenities like a modern toilet and shower block and a chemical disposal point (please use green fluid). Campfires, barbecues and firepits are welcome here as long as they are lifted well off the grass. Handily, firewood is available to buy if you haven't brought your own fuel. Wood-fired pizzas, kebabs, pub food and a small supermarket are all available less than a mile away in Stockbridge town centre via a quiet bridleway. Please note that there's a clay pigeon shooting range half a mile away and therefore there may be some noise from that heard on site (mainly on Saturdays, but sometimes on other days).

  • Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.
  • Honden moeten getatoeëerd of gechipt zijn.
  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.
  • In de gemeenschappelijke ruimtes moeten te allen tijde mondkapjes worden gedragen.
  • Minimumafstand van 6 meter tussen de staplaatsen.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.
  • Er zijn geen vuilnisbakken ter plaatse: alle afval moet mee naar huis worden genomen.
  • Please note that showers will not be available in sub-zero temperatures. You must provide the registration number of all vehicles, as the site has ANPR cameras and vehicles not registered may be asked to leave.

Ik was blij met: Had a lovely time, the kids played all day and really enjoyed themselves. We had our radio on and just enjoyed the sunshine. We had a bbq and a fire. Overall it’s a lovely place to stay. Toilets were clean and showers were good. Baby change facilities also came in handy. You make the camping what you make it. We will be looking to come back.

Ik was blij met: Not much.

Ik was niet zo blij met: So packed with no area left to pitch up. We squeezed in between two cars. Luckily we did have a big tent to pitch otherwise I’m unsure of where we would have gone. Site was described as a quiet with large grass areas pitches. It wasn’t that quiet or peaceful as there were children screaming and running around in the evening and early morning. I understand it was a bank holiday but I don’t think my booking should have been placed as it was just too busy with not enough space to have a pitch. Facilities were ok but bins overflowing and not enough toilet paper. A dirty wet towel to dry hands on instead of paper towels.

Ik was blij met: Nice clean site, could pitch up anywhere. Plenty of water points and washing up facilities. Good path down to the local town.

Ik was niet zo blij met: A bit like Butlins. Not our cup of tea at all.

Ik was blij met: Lovely site, conveniently located with flat pitches and good facilities. We were warmly greeted and had plenty of room, with to no formal laid out pitches, despite it being a very busy weekend. It had a lovely, laid back and friendly atmosphere and we would definitely return. Great site for families and also people wanting peace and quiet. The price was great value.

Ik was blij met: clean showers and toilets when you can get in them see below - good location in to stockbridge - friendly staff and great having fire wood on site - this is our 2nd time here and was very busy its pitch where you like and am sure there were far to many units for such a small space it was like sardines - so toilet and showers always busy - good job we had a back up - would come back if we had more space on our pitch - that needs looking at cheers guys

For greenery and gardens, try Houghton Lodge (five minutes' drive), a small-scale spot dating back to the late 18th century in a gorgeous riverside location. The grounds at Mottisfont (15 minutes), a National Trust-managed house and garden, may be a bit grander in scale, but they're in a relaxed country location and aren't too big for a day out with young kids. This part of the world has lots of military connections, so how about a trip to the Army Flying Museum (10 minutes), or to Winchester (20 minutes) and its regimental collections in Peninsula Square? Inspired to try a bit of target practice yourself? The Spitfire Shoot (five minutes) can sort you with clay pigeon sessions (mostly on Saturdays, but sometimes at other times too). A little bit further away there are world-class attractions like Stonehenge (25 minutes), a must-see when visiting this part of the world, as well as family-focused options like Paultons Park (30 minutes), a theme park, and the interactive exhibits at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke (30 minutes).
