At Middle Barn Farm, you’ll be well-based for busying yourself with pebble beaches, castles and amusement piers. A south-facing grasslands site with views over the Pevensey Marshes, the dog-friendly pitches here are part of a working livestock farm accessible from the A259 – the way to places such as historical Hastings (20 minutes’ drive), Eastbourne (20 minutes) and Fort Fun’s outdoor water park (15 minutes). Farm animals such as cattle call this place home already, but you’ll be joining them in a separate field for tents only– with extras such as hot and cold drinks, ice and ice cream available from the site’s shop and Shepherd’s hut style showers and ladies’ and gents’ toilets. Well away from the hustle and bustle, you may want to walk from the site to the pebble beach at Pevensey Bay, part of an old fishing village. There’s a footpath that will take you there in around an hour and a half. Out on foot, you’ll also be able to scope out the local food hotspots. Some of the places nearby include a café just five minutes’ walk away, a 16th-century pub 25 minutes’ walk away the same way or Little Common’s many more eateries and takeaways half an hour’s walk away.
