Helton Campsite

Ik was blij met: We really liked the location of the campsite. It is a short drive to most places but also has really nice walks around. The walk into pooley bridge from the campsite was lovely.
Great views from the site too!
The facilities were basic but were clean throughout our stay.
The staff were polite and friendly, they come around to check the site regular and top up any wood for fire (this was also very easy to pre book!)

Ik was niet zo blij met: The facilities were the bare minimum - at the price of a campsite with good facilities. The shower only had cold water. It was extremely noisy, with large groups shouting and playing music through the night. Don't book ahead - it's just an open field with no assigned plots.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Cold showers and a bit too noisy at night as the campsite was packed . Probably wouldnt go there on a bank holiday weekend

Ik was blij met: The firepits are a brilliant idea and easy to pre-book. The owner was really friendly and supplied us with fire starters, kindling and logs. The shower and toilet facilities were basic, but very clean. Clean water was also available on site and there was enough space for us to pitch our 3 tents.

Ik was blij met: Great location, easy to find. Lovely walks in the area, and you can walk to Pooley Bridge across the fields. Flushable toilets with toilet roll and 1 shower. Perfect stay!

Ik was blij met: views at the campsite, proper toilets instead of portaloos, someone comes round a few times a day to check everything’s okay

Ik was blij met: Good location. Great hosts. Booked this for my son and his friends and they had a great weekend here.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Unmanned site by the looks, no rules or regs ect. Just an open gate into a field, other campers up till 2am blasting music, dogs off leads fighting! Someones dog actually ran into our tent at 1am ripped out the guylines, same again at 7am, dog off leads fighting, done its business outside our tent and owner left it, rubbish all over ! Literally anyone can just pull on the field and pitch by the looks as no owners in site, we paid for 2 nights and packed up and left at 8am the first morning!! Ive stayed on many rural campsites and prefer the wild camping experience with little amenities, however this was ridiculous! More like a party field with no respect for others, shouting swearing, loud music, dogs fighting, cars being driven up and down the field at 12am, 1am, 2am to the toilet as they were too lazy to walk!

Will not be back here thats for sure, shame as its the people being let on the site thats the issue, cant comment on owners as never seen them once, didnt even seem to appear on site to ensure it was people who had paid, might as well just not pay, turn up, pitch your tent and have a party till 3am

Ironically, there was a large group of teenagers- early 20’s turned up, they were very respectful and quiet, it was more the 30’s - 40’s universal credit warriors that was the issue!

Camp rules are on the toilets and gates as you walk in! Camp is checked 8/11/2/10 o’clock. My dad was aware of your tent and didn’t managed to catch you while you stayed you had left in the morning by time he arrived but rest assured we were expecting your visit and your tent matched the prescription we were expecting so didn’t react or want to bother you until the morning.

2 phone numbers on the website and on the toilets you could of called at any point to let us know the issues you were having which you didn’t call.

Was the first weekend of camp being open this year I’m sorry you had a bad time. Please call me and we can have a chat about the issues. Sounds to me a simple phone call to one of the two number would have solved your problem in seconds. So thanks.
