Greenfields Campsite is found on a Cheshire farm, close to the buzzy little town of Knutsford, and it’s a top choice for anyone wanting to combine an outdoorsy type holiday with mooching around historic attractions. There are lakeside walks at Farmwood Pool (15 minutes’ drive), and the kids can run off energy on the orienteering course in Marbury Country Park (20 minutes). If you have the odd rainy day (this being England), you can resort to the indoor swimming pool in Northwich (15 minutes). How about journeying up a hydraulic lift on the Weaver river at the Anderton Boat Lift Visitor Centre (20 minutes), or getting up close to the star-gazing Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre (15 minutes)? A 40-minute drive takes you to the walled city of Chester, where you can beat the bookies at a race meeting, explore the Gothic-era cathedral or treat the kids to a day at the zoo. The village of Lower Peover (two minutes' drive/15 minutes' walk) has a handy shop and two pubs serving excellent food and beers. You can also source picnic treats of fresh bread, sandwiches and cakes from the handy village shop in Goostrey (10 minutes' drive). Knutsford (also 10 minutes) is the spot for nosing around trendy boutiques, and it’s got more than its fair share of posh pubs and cafés if you fancy a night out. Dogs are very welcome – in fact, your canine chums are so welcome that they get their own doggy welcome pack – the kids get the complimentary marshmallows to roast around the campfire though. The owners provide a covered kitchen and washing-up area with hot water, so you can get creative on the barbecue.

  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 20 meter nodig.
  • Als je vuur wilt maken, dien je de brandstof, houtblokken en kolen daarvoor ter plaatse te kopen.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.

Ik was blij met: Spacious site. Friendly owners. The free marshmallows is a really nice and welcoming gesture. Fire pits are great and the logs reasonably priced.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Would be beneficial if there was a toileting facility on the other side of the field also especially for during the night if camping in a tent.

Ik was blij met: Flat level pitch, good facilities, fab shower, spacious clean washing up area, marshmallow gift, campfire at each pitch, friendly hosts, no check in/check out times, Albie the Tup nearby who was a hit with our small person!

Ik was niet zo blij met: Lots of pitches fairly close together & other guests were loud on the first evening. Quietened down just after 11 so not too bad.

Ik was blij met: Layout, fully serviced pitch, campfire setup, wash up facilities, clean shower/toilets. Great communication from the owners prior to arrival but didn’t get chance to meet them onsite as we arrived after 6pm.

Ik was niet zo blij met: We arrived a little too late (just after 6pm) to purchase the wood for the campfire. We did enjoy watching others enjoy theirs though! The very noisy group next door. Music playing until midnight and repositioned their car to shine lights at their tent leaving the engine running for two hours. Didn’t want to say anything incase it made it worse so popped in the ear plugs and got some sleep. Our water tap was used by others to fill water pistols and bottles so was a bit of back and forth behind the van whilst we were relaxing after a busy day. We would probably have enjoyed our stay more if the noisy group weren’t there. We’ve been to previous sites where people either respected the no noise after 10pm request, or the owners/wardens did a walk around to address any issues. We only stayed for a night so just got on with it!
