Prepare to be bowled over by this Yorkshire site – it certainly punches above its weight in terms of location and (perhaps more importantly) food. The Punch Bowl Hotel is in Low Bentham, a pretty North Yorkshire village with community features including plentiful public footpaths, a post office and a church, plus steam trains passing by every now and then. (It's also said to be where Queen Victoria had her silk bloomers made, but that's another story…). This is a top spot to base yourselves in for exploring the local countryside, as it’s close to heaps of excellent walking trails and attractions like Ingleborough Cave, Lancaster Castle and Ribblehead Viaduct – and it’s not far to the coast either, for a paddle at Morecambe beach. After a long day of exploring, it’s back to base for a refreshing pint and a tasty meal at the pub, which is known for both its friendly atmosphere and its menu of locally sourced dishes. You’ll have a choice of settling down in the pub’s cosy interior or taking a table out in the beer garden; the latter is likely to be popular with the kids, as it’s close to the play area. Dogs are welcome here too, both at the pub and on the pitches. The field has its own simple facilities in the form of a shower and toilet; there’s also access to additional toilets in the pub during opening hours. There's a village shop a couple of minutes' walk from base, but if you need a supermarket make tracks for Ingleton (10 minutes' drive).

Ik was blij met The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere in the pub whilst we were there with a karaoke disco. We ate there on the Saturday night … only basket meals available but good value for money and tasty.

Ik was niet blij met Unfortunately the facilities onsite are lacking slightly.. only 2 toilets and 2 showers for the amount of people there although the toilets are available whilst the pub is open. It’s just a shame some of the campers there are inconsiderate to others ie not cleaning up after themselves. This is no reflection on the owners.. they can’t be cleaning 24/7. Also lots of traffic noise and a railway line .

Ik was blij met Great venue and pub and hosts. Toilets were clean and usable 24/7 with additional use of the pub throughout the day.
If you use the pub you will be met with a friendly smile and good cheap pub food.

Good level pitch for us, some not so level, but alright.
Loos clean and looked after.
Showers super hot and powerfully.

Ik was blij met Location, large field with plenty of spaces to camp, pub on site serving food & also had karaoke on the evening we were there, allows fires, friendly staff. Guy going the karaoke was a good laugh.

Ik was niet blij met Only one toilet cubicle which is shared for both men and women, 1 small shower and 1 washroom and the washroom shower was cold.

Ik was niet blij met Not enough toilets. One shower either burnt you and frozen you. Shower was cleaned with bleach daily but bleach left in bucket where we seen 1 year olds putting there hands in it multiple times

Ingleton (10 minutes' drive) has plenty to keep you popping back – there's a (seasonal) heated outdoor pool, craft shops and the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, an attractive and easygoing five-mile circular route. As the site is on the edge of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape and close to the Yorkshire Dales, there are plenty more trails around for all ages and abilities – including a challenging route up to the peak of Ingleborough (15 minutes). The scenery extends underground too, as you’ll see if you visit the dramatic Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes). And there are also manmade attractions, such as the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct (20 minutes), with a footpath running alongside. If you’re not into walking you can also catch a train on the scenic Settle to Carlisle line. Other local leisure spots include Bentham Golf Course (five minutes), Morecambe's attractive beachfront (30 minutes) and Kirkby Lonsdale's jaw-dropping Devil's Bridge (20 minutes). Travelling with kids? Take them to play knights and damsels at Lancaster Castle (30 minutes), go bowling in Morecambe (30 minutes) or cool off at Splash Park Happy Mount (30 minutes).
