Like the sound of floating down peaceful stretches of East Anglia river and spending the night wild camping under the forest canopy? Here’s your chance to take to the water in Norfolk countryside, and paddle down the River Bure to WildWood Canoe Camp, 10 minutes’ drive from the village of Wroxham. Two days and one night of canoe hire is included in your stay at this gorgeous site. Whether you’re a Norfolk local keen to know what’s on your doorstep, or families looking for a back-to-nature adventure staycation, you’ll find yourselves in a secluded corner of the Broads, where you can spend the evening snuggled up around a cosy campfire next to the water’s edge, go wild swimming or fishing, or wildlife spot among the trees. Alternatively, a riverside path leads from the pitches to the local village of Coltishall (half an hour’s walk), with many amenities including a village shop for your essentials, pubs with delicious food and a couple of takeaways. Just so you are aware: WildWood is just that – an untamed forest floor with wild camping pitches for a back-to-basics camping experience. Minimal facilities stretch to self-composting toilets and fresh water available in jerry cans. Please be aware that there is no hot water and no electricity on the site.

  • Deze camping beschikt niet over douchevoorzieningen.
  • Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.
  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan. Denk aan de pitbullterriër en tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro.
  • Voor sommige faciliteiten en/of activiteiten, zoals Archery, Bushcraft, Teambuilding, gelden extra kosten, die bij aankomst betaald dienen te worden.
  • Auto's/motoren zijn niet toegestaan op de staplaats/bij de accommodatie. Deze moeten worden geparkeerd op de daarvoor bestemde plekken.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Er is geen open vuur toegestaan in de gehuurde accommodaties.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.
  • Er is geen receptie ter plaatse: neem bij aankomst contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.
  • Bij droog, winderig en/of heet weer zijn vuren, barbecues en vuurkorven niet toegestaan.

Van de manager: Hello! I am sorry that you didn't have the best experience with us. This is designed to be a canoe camping stay at a back to basics campsite. I do appreciate it seems you didn't realise the canoeing involved and we have made steps with Pitch-Up to ensure that is something that is highlighted as it does seem our particular offering was not right for you at all. We did send multiple documents after you had booked with an itinerary of your stay and this would have been the perfect opportunity to catch this wasn't right for you but sadly it was missed. I am glad you enjoyed the campsite, the woods are beautiful and a great place to spend a night.

Not too tired from all that paddling on the river? Then spend the day running off even more energy on the rope courses and jungle bridges at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (15 minutes’ drive), or head for the climbing frames and obstacle courses at Norfolk Lakes Activity Centre (half an hour). If you’re travelling with younger children, take them to meet the life-size dinosaurs and mammoths at ROARR!, and kids of all ages will be endlessly fascinated by the hairy creepy crawlies at BugzUK (both 25 minutes) too. The forest trails in Broadland Country Park (15 minutes), are particularly pretty when the bluebells are out in spring or the leaves golden in autumn, while other gentle family walks can be found along the Bure Valley Railway Path, 10 minutes’ walk from the campsite. If the weather turns on you, seek refuge among the model train sets and dolls’ houses at Wroxham Miniature Worlds (10 minutes’ drive).
