Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is 10 minutes' drive away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too. Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant. There's also a big beer garden with a play area. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers. The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too). It's got a pool table for evenings of friendly competition, and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights. New Broom also has a toilet/shower facility that guests can use free of charge, 24 hours a day.

Ik was blij met everything lovely site been here 7/8 times owner very helpful and the pub as great food, we stayed here after a day at alton towers,

Ik was blij met Staff were very welcoming and the area was lovely and quiet. Food at the pub was wonderful and good prices.

Ik was niet blij met The shower block was moderately clean but found socks were black after being on the floor not for long so could do with cleaning more often

Ik was blij met John the pub landlord who runs the site was an absolute gent. Very helpful and focused on you having a great stay. Food at the pub was really lovely, decent honest pub food.

Ik was blij met Had our own electric pitch for the tent up on the top part of the land , it was absolutely brilliant, the landlord showed us around and informed us about everything we needed to know, he was a really nice guy as well and made us feel very welcome, all the staff was lovely and friendly, kids loved the play park on site and didn’t want to leave we will definitely return soon. 10/10

Ik was blij met Having the pub and play area for the kids right on site was very helpful, phone signal all on site so kids were easily entertained

Ik was niet blij met Had a group on site who were loud until gone midnight and had a fire burning what ever they could find.. bad timing for us with small kids..maybe someone doing the rounds checking would of stopped this

Ik was blij met Great place to stop nice and clean and tidy all staff were friendly and helpful. Food was lovely there lovely play area for the kids or the camping field for them to run around In. Would definitely stop here again.

Both Alton Towers and Uttoxeter Racecourse are ten minutes' drive away – just as well then that New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is competitively priced as you'll need to save your pennies for days at either/both… Uttoxeter is also good for an afternoon out to visit the Museum of Uttoxeter Life, the Wednesday and Saturday markets (a farmers' market is held once a month too) and Bramshall Road Park's tennis courts, skate ramps, football pitch, bowling green, play areas and Picknall Brook nature reserve. Fifteen minutes' drive away at Stoke-on-Trent, The Potteries ceramics centre has over 20 pottery factory shops as well as award-winning museums, visitor centres, factory tours and a ceramics trail. Around half an hour away, visit the Derbyshire Dales to find walking trails for all abilities and market towns such as Bakewell and Ashbourne.
