Midshires Way Campsite and Alpaca Farm

Ik was blij met Really clean site, loved the alpacas. Very quiet (other than unavoidable noise from planes that didn’t bother us at all). Great space for dogs to exercise! Nice large pitches with water and electric.

Ik was niet blij met Would prefer the toilets to be separate to showers as only two. It was very quiet so not an issue this time, but could see it being more of an issue if the site was busier.

Ik was blij met Fantastic number of limited pitches that are all fully serviced and are of a good size.
Nice and clean facilities to wash and shower etc.
Nice to wander round and see the horses and alpacas.

Ik was niet blij met Because it’s on the flight path of EMA, it’s very noisy at night to sleep.

Ik was blij met lovely big pitches and the site was very clean. Easy to find and some great pubs near by for food

Ik was blij met Super quiet site with horses and alpaca’s
Nice walks and close to town with all the usual shops, pubs and takeaways. It is close to East Midlands Airport but the noise from passing planes is very low and didn’t bother us at all.
Very pleasant site team made us feel very welcome.
Yes we will be coming back if possible

Ik was niet blij met If you want to to use an awning you will need rock pegs and a large hammer. as the hard standing bases appear to have quite rocky foundations.

* Very well presented site
* Large, almost flat pitch, no ramps needed, just minor levelling on steadies
* Ample space even for a 7.5m A Class
* Clean, warm toilet and shower facilities
* Excellent washing-up facilities
* Well-positioned for a 20+ minute, flat and safe walk into East Leake village, with good amenities including shops, cafés and pubs

Ik was niet blij met * Only two toilet/shower rooms, both en suite, meaning queues are likely at peak times
* Chemical waste point located by reception, making it a longer walk than expected from pitches
* Significant aircraft noise due to location directly under a flight path, including early morning and late-night flights
* No clear mention of aircraft noise on the official website or booking description
* Owner came across as distant and unwelcoming, which impacted the overall feel of the stay, we felt like an intrusion rather than a welcomed guest.

Ik was blij met Lovely location, friendly owners. Clean facilities. Added bonus alpacas. Also not everyone's cup of tea but loved being under the landing path of East midlands and watching the planes go over.

Ik was blij met The pitches and general paths and gardens are all very well maintained. The site is easy to locate and is in an ideal location near East Leake, which can be used for pubs, shops etc.

Ik was niet blij met The staff were unhelpful, before and during our arrival. We had contacted to say we'd be arriving later and whether that would be ok, the answer was very unclear. When we did arrive, the reception was closed which is ok, but we had no idea where to go or which pitch we were. The staff were very rude on the phone and seemed very eager to get us off of the phone. The toilet blocks are nice and private, but there is only a mop left for users to clean afterwards, which resulted in some very dirty showers. I think it should be very clear also that this site is directly under the landing path for East Midlands Airport, making it very loud all night.

Ik was blij met Nice size pitches kept tidy and grass areas nice, washing machine and dryer available, clean pot wash area, shower room and toilet area tidy

Ik was niet blij met We were there from Tuesday through to Friday, during that time showers/ toilets not cleaned at all, stains in toilet still there when we left, dead spider still on shower surround, floor dirty not washes at all during time there and bins left unemptied.

Ik was blij met Adults only, nice spacious serviced pitches, toilets and showers spot on and clean, great for walks and some nice pubs in East Leake. Overall great place to stay 👍🏼

Ik was blij met We had a fantastic stay from start to finish. The site was beautifully maintained and exceptionally clean—we genuinely couldn’t fault a thing. It’s a wonderfully peaceful setting, perfect for switching off and relaxing, with the added bonus of watching the horses putting on a show in the fields.

There’s a lovely walk into the village, along with plenty of public footpaths nearby to explore, making it ideal for getting out on foot or by bike and enjoying the countryside at your own pace. The facilities were spotless throughout and clearly very well looked after, which made a real difference to our stay.

The staff at the Nags Head pub were amazing—friendly, welcoming, and a great addition to the overall experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others looking for a peaceful getaway.

As for the planes, we honestly don’t understand the negative comments. We found it lovely to watch them coming in to land, and it was completely quiet at night. If noise is a concern, it’s worth checking the location before booking—but for us, it didn’t detract from the experience at all.

Ik was niet blij met Honestly, nothing about the site itself. The only minor issue was some particularly lively neighbours celebrating their new campervan and inviting friends onto the campsite to see it. However, the owner handled it quickly and things settled down, which we really appreciated. It’s worth mentioning this wasn’t a fault of the site at all, just one of those things—and it didn’t take away from an otherwise excellent stay.
