Fancy a riverside retreat in Robin Hood country? Boat Lane Caravan and Camping has a berth for you. A 40-minute walk to the banks of the River Trent and a pair of popular pubs with grub, this site sits on a spot of prime Nottinghamshire countryside. They keep things simple at Boat Lane, allowing you enjoy the peace of its spacious tree-lined meadow with minimum fuss. There are hot showers in the well-maintained washrooms, a washing-up area for your pots and pans and everyone has access to a communal fridge for perishables (or Prosecco...). Dogs are welcome. The owners recommend a 10-minute walk to the pub at Bleasby (three minutes by car) or a 40-minute riverside stroll to the pub in Friskerton, followed by a boat ride down and/or across the Trent. The Domesday Book records a ferry crossing here in the 11th-century, so why not make like a medieval in a rowing boat? If you’d rather explore the waters without tiring yourself, make for Gunthorpe (a quarter of an hour away) for a river cruise or take your rods to Bleasby lake (a mere three minutes away) for day permit fishing.

  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 15 meter nodig.
  • Gasten moeten hun eigen dekbedden, kussens, lakens en handdoeken meebrengen als ze in een huuraccommodatie overnachten. Neem je deze spullen niet mee, dan mag je hier niet blijven.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Er is geen open vuur toegestaan in de gehuurde accommodaties.
  • Indien de receptie bij aankomst gesloten is: neem contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.
  • Bij droog, winderig en/of heet weer zijn vuren, barbecues en vuurkorven niet toegestaan.

Ik was blij met: What a welcome from Martin -really explained all the facilities and obviously loved his job there. Forgot cards and cash and Olive the owner said bank transfer is fine. We could have stopped and chatted with Olive for ages -lovely woman. Went in a mohome no electric middle field. Buttercups everywhere birds singing had a great nights sleep. Walked to the river trent but not the local pubs as no cash! The whole site had a lovely feel and booked back in already for a return.

Ik was blij met: Martin on site was a very amiable guy and very helpful .

We were a late arrival in the evening and they still accommodated us . The location was perfect and the facilities were good also .decent pub nearby and also one on the way on one of the walks .

Really good weekend and looking forward to coming back soon .

Ik was blij met: What a great weekend at Boat Lane! Myself and my sons were made to feel very welcome by Olive and her colleague Martin. Friendly, welcoming and available for any queries. It is a lovely rustic site, with nice touches like a fridge freezer for storage and really clean facilities. We will be booking again!

Ik was blij met: Relaxed site in an excellent location near the River Trent with two great pubs within walking distance (15-minute and 45-min strolls). Lovely staff, very clean bathroom facilities and well-equipped kitchen.

Ik was blij met: The toilets and showers were very clean loved how they had a kitchen area with microwave and sink to do your pots. The staff were lovely and helpful as well. Will definitely be coming again, not to far a walk down the road to the pub or to the River Trent. Amazing ill recommend to everyone I know

Ik was niet zo blij met: Ground was abit tough and stoney so we struggled with the tent pegs and placement of our windbreaker.

Ik was blij met: Another great stay at Boat Lane - fantastic location for walks along the Trent.

We headed one way towards Farndon via Fiskerton and stopped at the wonderful 'The Bromley' in Fiskerton on the way back - excellent selection of food and drink and reasonably priced.

Then walked the other way the next day for a ~2.5 hour stroll all the way to Gunthorpe.

If you enjoy good walks this is the site for you.

The site itself is peaceful, other guests are respectful and the facilities are ideal for a few nights away (fridge, freezer, washing up, kettle, microwave, toilets, showers, etc.)

A major hub since the days of Robin and his Merry Men, Nottingham (half an hour by car) still draws the crowds. Tour the castle and the caves, take a glass of ale in Ye Trip To Jerusalem (one of many contenders for the oldest pub in England crown), skate on ice at Motorpoint Arena and see how far law and order’s come since the Sheriff’s time in the National Justice Museum. Sherwood Forest, three quarters of an hour away, harbours no brigands these days; within the nature reserve, country park and Sherwood Pines Forest Park you will find 450 acres of wildlife with among ancient oak trees and a wealth of biking and walking trails taking you through them. Traverse the tree-tops on ropes and wires at Go Ape, or let the kids loose on Robin Hood’s Hideout, an acclaimed natural play area; on your way back, call in at Ferry Farm Country Park a quarter of an hour from the site, to pet the pigs, feed the lambs, zoom about on go-karts and get adventurous on the adventure playground. If the ancient forest’s fired you up about history, make for Newark (25 minutes) with its castle, National Civil War Centre and Air Museum. Or to feel as if you stepped back in time, take the 45-minute trip to Wollaton Hall, where herds of red and fallow deer roam round a lake in the grounds of a stately Elizabethan mansion.
