Heading to a Formula 1 race at Silverstone? Or perhaps you’re going to an event at the Blackpit Brewery? Regardless of your agenda, if you’re visiting the area straddling Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, it’s a good idea to book a stay at Dadford Road Campsite. Not only is it a handy five minutes’ drive down the road from both the racetrack and Blackpit; it’s also a clever choice if you’re wanting to explore the Capability Brown estate at Stowe Gardens (10 minutes’ drive), play golf, go hiking, try sky diving… or just put your feet up on site. The level, well-kept camping field is set on a family farm with large, pick-your-own-space grass pitches. They’re not limited by size, so you can spread out and camp together with family or friends if you like. Car parking is allowed on the field as well. Bear in mind, however, that there’s no electricity on site, so factor in torches when it comes to packing your gear. Handy amenities include mains water, washing-up sinks, fully flushing toilets and hot showers with step-free access in the facilities block. You can pick up all your grocery needs at the local convenience store, or make haste to the nearest pub (both five minutes) for a pint and good food.

Deze camping biedt een geweldige locatie, vooral voor een bezoek aan Silverstone, met vriendelijke en gastvrije eigenaren. Ik was blij met A nice big site, plenty of facilities. Very clean.

Ik was niet blij met Not much of the site is level, but I get that’s not an issue for everybody. The facilities are basic but the showers were on the chilly side.

Ik was blij met Amazing facilities for a grass pitch. lots of toilets and showers, as well as a place to charge phones etc

Ik was niet blij met Whilst it's a big field, it's not the flattest. So if it was busy you could definitely end up on a slope.

As it was quiet though, there was still plenty of flat ground

Ik was blij met Basic site, but lots of room and very reasonably priced too. Hosts were lovely and answer any questions you have. Wonderfully quiet. Close proximity to Silverstone circuit was ideal.

Ik was niet blij met Not sure what was going on with the toilets/showers as when we got there they were all open, then most got locked one evening. There was however always at least one toilet and shower available.

Ik was blij met Location and greeting on arrival plus flexibility offered was great

Ik was niet blij met Shower and toilet block are basic - everything you need and all looked clean but don't expect luxury.

National Trust - Stowe Gardens (10 minutes’ drive) has expansive parkland dotted with temples, follies and lookout points. Stowe House itself (not an NT property) is an elegant Palladian mansion with a lively calendar of events, including talks and guided visits. And as you drive away from here on Stowe Avenue towards Buckingham, the imposing Corinthian Arch will stay in your rearview mirror for quite some time… A 60-acre woodland garden with seasonal plants, and plenty of birds and butterflies, Evenley Wood Garden (20 minutes) is a fab place in which to experience bluebell meadows in spring, colourful lilies and roses in the summer, and warm autumnal foliage. After visiting Silverstone (and admiring powerful McLarens and gleaming Ferraris), head to the Northampton International Raceway (half an hour) for a thrilling afternoon of banger racing, which involves drivers purposefully smashing their old cars into other vehicles.
