Pull off the M5 (at Junction 17), drive for five minutes or so and park up at the Plough Inn. The pitches behind this Greater Bristol country pub are handily placed for motorway stopovers or for longer stays exploring Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and the eastern stretches of south Wales. If you’re not up for travelling far once you’ve settled in, it’s handy to note that you can get to an animal park and inland surf facility with a drive of less than 10 minutes. Look a little further afield and you can get to central Bristol in less than half an hour, or easily set off to the seaside or the splendid sights of Bath. Pitches here are in a grass field behind the pub, with access to basic amenities including free wifi and the pub toilets (only available during pub opening hours). Dogs and kids are welcome (and there’s a play area on hand to entertain the kids). The pub itself is a classic country pub, with flagstone floors, log fires and traditional furniture, plus live music on certain days. There’s a good selection of food to pick from too, including sandwiches, pub classics and a fun build-your-own-burger option. Kids can choose from their own separate menu, and there’s a popular Sunday roast at the weekend.
