Family-friendly pitches in Gloucestershire’s untamed Forest of Dean – it doesn’t get much better than that. Except it does… because at Forest of Dean Camping, guests can join miles of purpose-built cycling and hiking tracks straight from the pitches. Whether you’re after a quick walk with the dog – your four-legged companions are very welcome here – a pub crawl in local villages or a whole-day biking adventure, they’re all close by. After a day in the forest, head back to your pitch for an evening around the embers. No need to lug everything from home, as there are firepits for hire on a per-night basis, and logs and kindling are sold on the premises. The site also has a small shop selling the basics and alcohol (open 9am until 6pm at reception), so you’ll never get caught short without supplies – and if you want to pick up some eggs for breakfast, spuds or meat for the barbecue, there’s a local shop just 15 minutes’ stroll away. On a practical level, spotless amenities on site include a heated shower block with separate disabled facilities and a laundry room for taking care of chores. If you’re travelling by pedal power, there’s a secure bike room, and there’s a noticeboard at reception with local tourist information if you’re needing a bit of sightseeing inspiration.

  • Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.
  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan. Denk aan de pitbullterriër en tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro.
  • Het reserveren voor vrijgezellenfeesten is niet toegestaan via Pitchup.com.
  • Er mogen geen reserveringen worden gemaakt voor meer dan 28 aaneengesloten nachten.
  • Deze camping ontvangt alleen gezinnen (directe familieleden) en koppels; reserveringen van andere groepen worden niet aangenomen.
  • Kortingskaarten en cadeaubonnen kunnen niet gebruikt worden bij reserveringen via Pitchup.com.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 10 meter nodig.
  • Onderkomens die langer zijn dan 9 meter, zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Onderkomens die zwaarder zijn dan 7500 , zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Minimumafstand van 6 meter tussen de staplaatsen.
  • Als je vuur wilt maken, dien je de brandstof, houtblokken en kolen daarvoor ter plaatse te kopen.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Indien de receptie bij aankomst gesloten is: neem contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.

Ik was blij met Absolute perfection! All new campsites should be modelled on this one. Great pitches, fab views, pristine facilities, excellent location, but topped off by the nicest owner you could possibly meet! Jess is just lovely. Will do anything tonight help out. Super friendly!! Will definitely be back.

Overall an excellent stay will be definitely booking again

Ik was blij met This is a lovely site which has only been open 1 year. The pitch size was generous, the toilet block was lovely and clean, the family who run the site were friendly and the reception/shop was a nice bonus. Would absolutely stay there again.

Ik was blij met Lovely clean site, peaceful, great views. Owners are a delight. Facilities are top class and the whole site is perfectly manicured. Local forest walks straight from site, 10 minute drive to Tesco’s, Lidl and other convenience stores and takeaway food etc. nearby attractions (half hour drive) such as Tintern Abbey and Symonds Yat. Dog friendly and all round just a perfect retreat for a relaxing break. I’ve stayed at many sites across the country and this is now one of my favourites!

Ik was niet blij met Nothing at all and we will definitely go back.

If I had one gripe, it’s a small one. The timer light in the shower block could be a little longer as I had a late shower when it was dark and it went off before I’d finished and I was still in the cubicle getting dressed. This was quickly solved by waving the towel over the door though.

Ik was blij met A lovely clean and welcoming site. Jess was there to greet us in her well stocked shop and provided us with lots of information. The pitches were a generous size and well looked after. Lovely views and a great location.

Ik was niet blij met Unbeknown to us on the first of our 2 night stay, a group of about 30 young men doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award were staying on site. As we are early risers (6.30 am) when my husband went to use the shower facilties (of which there are only 3 showers), it was pure mayhem for about 1.5 hours and also the washing up area was the same. I think we should have been informed of this on our arrival as this size site does not really have the facilities for these size groups.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Sporty souls can get out into the breathtaking Wye Valley National Landscape (20 minutes’ drive) for days of canoeing, paddleboarding or cycling along the River Wye. There’s also challenging climbing at Symonds Yat (half an hour), while gorge climbing or abseiling are on hand for adrenaline junkies. More sedate local pursuits include a steam-train ride aboard the Dean Forest Railway (10 minutes), which also offers lots of family-friendly attractions like murder mystery evenings. For outdoor fun in enchanting, moss-covered forest, the walking routes at Puzzlewood (also 10 minutes) are suitable for kids, and you can all learn about local history in the reconstructed cottages and museum at the Dean Heritage Centre (15 minutes). The spectacular remains of Cistercian Tintern Abbey (half an hour) have a gorgeous setting by the River Wye. Goodrich Castle (25 minutes) is another stunning spot where you can clamber up Norman-era towers, brave the dungeons and see relics of exquisite stained-glass windows in its half-ruined chapel.
