Castleton Camping

Ik was blij met This campsite is a hidden gem with a lovely view of Mam Tor. The walking path is near the entrance if you fancy a stroll up to Mam Tor. The site is far enough outside of Castleton for quietness and close enough to go for a drink and walk back.
It’s a basic site with washing facilities (plates and cutlery), drinking water and super clean toilets. Plus a cute honesty box.
Every time we’ve visited this site, everyone has been friendly and respectful not to be noisy. The field is big so you don’t feel like you’re on top of anyone. Can’t recommend it enough.

Ik was niet blij met I honestly can’t think of how you can make it better. People will always bring up that there’s no showers but for a one-night stay and to keep the cost down, I have no problem with it. Nothing that a pack of wet wipes can’t fix :)

Ik was blij met Great views, well presented with honesty boxes full of treats. The toilets are clean and a in good order. Loads of space, walking distance from town and the mountain. Word for word it's exactly as described.

Ik was blij met Brilliant site and surroundings, a true sense of freedom thanks to not having to formally check in and the ability to pick your parking spot.

Ik was niet blij met Only thing missing for us was not being able to have a safe contained fire or bbq, although this was due to the incredibly dry recent weather and probable safety guidelines being enforced in the area. Absolute perfection if it wasn’t for that.

Ik was blij met Lovely location with gorgeous views. Very narrow lane leading to site but we don’t pass anything whilst on it and it only goes to the site so no through traffic. Toilet block very clean. Honey box is a lovely touch and you can pay by cash and card.

Ik was niet blij met Long wet grass, this Site is a farm field so grass needed for animals after camping season, hence not cut short, very wet to walk through in the mornings. Some flat pitches but also sloped so levelling ramps needed.

Ik was blij met The location of this campsite is fantastic with great views of Mam Tor and surrounding area, and 1 mile walk into the village. There was plenty of space to pitch with being too close to others. Whilst the campsite is basic and has no showers, it was nicely maintained, spotless toilets, and some nice finishing touches to make you feel at home, like washing up liquid and paper towels for drying.
