Ik was niet blij met Noise - we have camped in loads of different places and the noise here was the worst.

Under a flight path and so planes during the night.

Cockerel who crowed despite it being 3am and still dark.

Big dogs barking every ten minutes.

Dirt bikes racing on the road.

Drunks singing loudly after 1am.

Live music until 11pm with sing along in a beer Keller set up!

Domestic arguments.

It is basically a place to get drunk with a field to pass out in.

Poor toilets and expensive showers - long queues for 4mins for a quid!

Thanks for your second review for this stay, obviously this is a continued vendetta and I would direct your attention towards my prior reply rather than repeat myself, apart from to address a couple of your new points:

On the flight path, Manchester airport is over 1 hour away and we rarely have reports of disturbances from planes.

We are trying our best to teach our cockerel to tell the time, but the watch won't stay on his wrist!

Dirt bikes / road : The road is a public B road and unfortunately nothing to do with us, I am not sure how you would like us to stop this?

Live music is always pre advertised, and the music was stopped at 10:30pm, in line with our site noise policy

Toilets / showers - were cleaned regularly this weekend, at 5am, 11am, 2pm, 6pm, and 11pm. If you were unhappy with the cleanliness of them at any time, you are always welcome to let us know and we will happily service them again. As for the showers, this is also explained on your check in sheet, the charge is in place as people used to leave water running all night and spend 45 mins in the shower, which would be less than fair to everyone else. (also advertised on our pitchup page)

On domestic arguments, we do patrol the campsite regularly for excessive noise but unfortunately cannot resolve everybody's personal issues.

I would say, had you made us aware of any of these issues while you were on site, we could have done something about them, but unfortunately you have waited until you can post anonymously online rather than speak to us in person. We take great care in making sure our site is suitable for everyone, and as you can see from the rest of our reviews, the overwhelming majority enjoy their time here. We have a small team of dedicated staff who we are very proud of and work very hard to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible.

Capacity - over crowded.
No emergency contact.
Toilets - only 6 ladies toilets, 2 of which were leaking.

We have enjoyed camping weekends for over 20yrs, as single people in our 20s to now bringing our kids along. We have camped in loads of different sites in England and Wales and this was the worst site we have been to.

We booked tents and a Shepherd's Hut. This was because one member of our party is having cancer treatment and so wanted somewhere quiet and comfy to sleep and rest. The Hut was terrible. The door did not fit in the door frame properly and there was a constant draft coming into the hut. There was no drinking water available despite being advertised. It was situated right next to the farm meaning the cockerel woke them up at 3am! Also the Live Music stage was there too.

The worst thing however was they were trapped in the Hut in the second night. The key locked them in from the inside but got stuck and wouldn't unlock! They tried the emergency number which just went to voicemail - so they were unable to go to the toilet or get and drinking water and had to wait until the morning.

This was particularly bad as we had just received the government warning for wild fires and so if something had happened, they were trapped in this hut!

We raised these issues about the hut and the lady became very defensive. Re drinking water she said "well it has run out!". Then when it was suggested they needed an emergency number she said "we do". We said we had tried that number and no one answered and she said "well I was asleep!". That is not an emergency number then!

Over all - if you just want somewhere to get drunk and have a mini festival experience then go for it.

If however you want a nice family camping trip, with decent showers and toilets and a cafe which opens before 9am - then avoid.

Avoid if you want to upgrade to a Sheperds Hut.

Avoid during the really hot weather as if something happens on site, the person who is at the end of the emergency number will be soundly asleep in her bed!!

Overall, they are effectively a live music bar with a field attached. If that is what you are looking for you will have a great time!

Thanks for your anonymous review, and sorry to hear about these issues that you experienced, but I would like to clear up a few points. 

On your complaints regarding live music until 10:30pm / cafe opening times / £1 charge for showers - these points are all advertised, and you booked with knowledge of these.

 As for the cockerel, we also advertise as a working farm and unfortunately our farmyard animals can be noisy, which is unfortunately unavoidable! Unless you would like to suggest that we dispatch of the animal for you?

I am sorry to hear that you didn't manage to find drinking water, nobody else on site this weekend has reported an issue with this. 

On the hut door, I once again pass on our apologies for this, as did the owner when you handed your key back in, rather than try to downplay your experience which you are trying to suggest. The hut has been in place for many years and we have never experienced this issue before. 

We are sorry to have missed your call on our emergency line, but unfortunately I have to disagree with your character assessment of our owner. She is a community nurse who works 60+ hours per week, and had been patrolling the campsite until 1am, hence her missing your call. A second attempt at a phone call would have resolved this. 

The dismissive tone that you have granted her in this review is not accurate at all, she was in fact brought to tears by the aggressive way that you approached her in the farm shop while she tried to explain the above. She did not sleep through your call due to laziness or lack of caring, as you seem to be trying to suggest. 

Overall, I accept the door issue, which has now been fixed within an hour of your leaving. However, I am struggling to understand why you have given the impression that the site owner did not care, when she apologised multiple times in front of a queue of people in the farm shop, who displayed shock at the way you spoke to our staff. 

Just to mention, when a member of staff came to help you out this morning, the door opened on first time of trying.

Ik was blij met Really lovely site, good facilities and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Great walks and stunning scenery on your doorstep or a 5 min drive away. We had to leave earlier than planned, but we will be back.
