With a relaxed festival atmosphere, Wild Canvas Camping is a long-standing pop-up site within the scenic riverside meadows of the historic Turvey House Estate in Bedfordshire. An hour and 45 minutes' drive away from London and just over an hour from Cambridge, it has a welcoming and relaxed ethos and is designed for all ages. At this spot, you're encouraged to leave the everyday behind and get stuck into music, creative arts, wellness and nature instead. There are a range of free activities on site, from arts and crafts to a family yoga club and the ever-popular talent show and kids’ disco. Coached paddleboarding lessons are also available, although many guests choose to bring their own kayaks and paddleboards to cruise down the River Great Ouse. If you paddle across the length of the site, you'll make it to the bar. Wild Canvas Camping also runs wellbeing activities such as free morning sessions (with the likes of yoga, pilates and/or boot camps) and a variety of classes throughout the day. There is also a wellness treatment tent and a riverside sauna. Guests can expect barista coffee and hot breakfasts at the on-site café, which also serves wholesome lunch and dinner dishes. The site also has a rotation of food trucks and a courtyard bar named the Wild HQ, with local beers and signature cocktails. While Wild Canvas Camping’s groovy playlists set the tone throughout the week, the weekends are livelier with live music and DJs; the music ends at midnight. The nearest train station is in Bedford, 15 minutes' drive away from the site. Olney, a market town with excellent shopping, is only a 10-minute drive away. Mobile phone reception is good on site.

Mooie camping aan de rivier met schone faciliteiten en vriendelijk personeel. Genoten van winkel, café en wateractiviteiten. Enkele gasten vonden het prijzig en misten volwassen activiteiten. Geluidsoverlast van trein/vliegbasis en gasten werd gemeld, evenals zorgen over waterhygiëne.

Ik was blij met Amazing facilities and always impeccably clean. Very friendly and helpful staff and although small, the on site shop was exceptional for what it’s stocked. The cafe over the road is also really good - I don’t think the website actually praises that enough, fantastic food and drinks. The water activities nearby are also very well ran with very friendly staff.

Ik was niet blij met We did find that it was a fairly noisy site from nearby cargo rail tracks that seem to be going throughout the day and night and also the airspace. It is very close to an RAF base, so quite a lot of plane noises. That said - we saw plenty of fighter jets which was an absolute delight!

Ik was blij met Relatively good experience. Good location next to the river however a bit disconcerting to have notices about the water being unhygienic and that it must not be ingested and heads shouldn’t go underneath the water. Camp was kept clean, bins and toilets emptied fairly regularly but sometimes the chemical toilets were quite pungent. Bar area and live acts were nice, a few more free activities for the kids would have also been nice especially considering the cost to camp in the first place (all activities should really be included I think). We did also have a local cat come into one of our tents and leave behind a mutilated mouse one night which was interesting

Ik was niet blij met People’s noise wasn’t controlled at all, every night there was someone playing music into the early hours, on the Sunday this went on until 5am!

Ik was blij met Nice clean showers, beautiful river/lake perfect for a quick swim in the heat. Lovely food and great staff who are happy to help.

Ik was niet blij met Alot of children's activities, wish there were more activities for the adults as well. But other than that it was wonderful

Ik was blij met We loved our stay at Wild Canvas. We stayed right on the water front and were close to all amenities, including drinking water, washing up facilities and toilets.
We didn't take advantage of the food service and the bar but the setup was great!
The kids also loved the superhero party and the creative workshop that were put on for free.

If you're planning a longer stay at Wild Canvas Camping, you might want to plan a few excellent days out. Get off to a flying start with a day of wildlife watching at Woburn Safari Park (half an hour's drive) or Whipsnade Zoo (50 minutes). The Dunstable Downs (50 minutes) are down south should you fancy a day of hiking, although there are plenty of opportunities for a lighter stroll in Harrold Odell Country Park (five minutes) if you don't feel like driving too far from base. Outings with a more historic edge can be had at the gorgeous 35-acre Castle Ashby Gardens (15 minutes) or learning about the fascinating story of the World War II codebreakers at Bletchley Park (half an hour). On the flip side, if you're looking for somewhere that will keep the kids happy, head to Gullivers Dinosaur and Farm Park (25 minutes) to meet pigs, sheep, donkeys and (models of) dinosaurs. Ride Leisure (35 minutes) has an inflatable water park for a good bit of adventure. On damp days, however, Milton Keynes (25 minutes) is the place to go for indoor karting, climbing and Snozone snow activities.
