Mi è piaciuto I chose one of the worst wet and windy weekends. Caroline had emailed bookings to say the site was to wet for cars to go on. As I was cycling this didn't cause an issue. On arrival it was apparent the warning was well judged. Had a car tried to get on it would've got a foot or two into the field and churned the grass into a bog. My alloted pitch was quite wet under foot but still useable. It was within 10ft of a water point. I couldn't be happier. After pitching up I had a walk around the site. No one else was there. Toilets were good and the cafe eating area looked well worth a visit if it opened this weekend with the poor weather. Later that evening a couple in a small motorhome set up just outside the grassed area. So I had the field to myself. After a night of frost I saw the cafe was opening. I had to visit. Inside the cafe was a blazing log burner. Taking the seat nearest this was wonderful after the chilly night. Breakfast ordered. I had the full fry up. It was bliss.

Non mi è piaciuto With the sloping site friction or the lack of, was my enemy. I kept sliding down my sleeping mat during the night.

Mi è piaciuto Wonderful warm welcome on my arrival. The site, set in several areas with dry stonewalls around each. The site is naturally sloping but there are plenty of places where you're able to pitch on near level ground. The toilets and showers are good. Be aware on this visit, a bank holiday weekend at about 9am there was a queue. Lucky I'm an early riser. 5am was quiet. Set up on site was a marquee with seating and a bar. Later I visited and got a cool pint of Guinness and a tasty burger. The following evening a fish and chip van was on site. Large fish chips with peas was £14.50. very nice. Thoroughly recommend the food served there and in the bar It a good site for families. As a solo camper it was enjoyable. Well worth a visit

Mi è piaciuto First time here. What a gem. Eva is fantastic. Arrived in 34c heat having cycled in. Eva came to introduce herself and a chat. Then offered an ice lolly. I gladly accepted. The pitches are well distanced. Found a little shade in the tree line by the brook. Other campers were very friendly. Making an overall pleasing experience. On a footnote.. toilets were very clean. No unpleasant odours. With plenty of room inside. A neat little shop with an honesty book. Bring change though. All this at a reasonable price

Mi è piaciuto Finally tried woodland camping. It was all I could have wished for. On arrival I was welcomed by the lovely Cheryl and her daughter. The small woodland is far enough away not to be disturbed. With an open area to set up in. Surprised to have a compost toilet in the wood. Later I had a burger at their burger van. Which was to die for.

Mi è piaciuto This was my first foray into cycle camping. It'd been 25 years since I last camped. When this was as a family, and was over many years and numerous camp site around the UK. Castle Farm Campsite I would rate at the top of my favourites. The simplicity and basic nature of the site was refreshing. To be met by Kaz and her partner who were very welcoming, friendly and informative. There are no plots set out. Simple etiquette rules to follow. I found a nice pitch near the river. What added to the experience was the wind and rain overnight. I loved it. I was there to test out my new gear. Which didn't fail me The location adds to the experience. The history and beauty. I shall be returning.
