Sojourning in Spain? Then say Hola! to your next Spanish holiday pad. About 10 minutes’ drive from the village of Alhaurín el Grande, this site is surrounded by highly scenic Andalusian countryside, with smashing views out over the mountains in the distance. Set halfway between Málaga and Marbella (both of which are a fast 40 minutes’ car ride away), you’re a little more than half an hour’s pootle from the coast and topping Spanish spots like La Cala de Mijas and Aqualand waterpark, or further inland the utterly spectacular mountaintop city of Ronda (don’t forget your camera phone). Mijas is a 25-minute drive. Meanwhile, back at the ranch… Your friendly hosts have set this place up so that kids can happily be off amusing their small selves around the playground and the pool (fenced off for their safety) while grownups simultaneously go about their business of relaxing, wine tasting and stretching out alongside the water or among the lush landscaped gardens in a most carefree fashion. Fast forward to dinnertime, and Roger will regale you with tales about the various tasty wines on offer at the restaurant; while the main menu here is aimed a little more toward discerning adult tastes, there’s a varied kids’ menu too; baby monitors are also on hand to borrow, so should, after a long day of ensuring the tadpoles remain thoroughly entertained, grownups wish to have some well-deserved downtime, they can settle back with a nice glass of wine and delish home-cooked local cuisine with a peaceful mind, all while surveying their splendiferous Spanish surrounds from the comfort of the shaded restaurant terrace. Between May and November, flamenco dancers strut it the Andalusian way at weekly performances showcased on site especially for La Granja de Antonio guests. And for further evening entertainment that gets guests even more entrenched in local culture, weekly soirées are hosted at the restaurant too, with themed evenings of paella, tapas and a Spanish barbecue taking place every week to encourage foodie fun and mingles with fellow guests.

Attrazioni nelle vicinanze

The ranch is a mere 10 minutes’ drive from Alhaurín el Grande and close to several good golf courses. A little further afield on the famed coastline of the Costa Del Sol, there’s heaps of family-friendly stuff to get stuck into; a tiptop spot for families is Aquamijas waterpark in Fuengirola: it’s got a wave pool, ski-high waterslides and a kids' splash pool too, so while the tiddlers are off getting wetter and wearier as the day wears on, grownups can spend time recharging on the poolside loungers, intermittently taking dips in the pool and refuelling at the snack bars alongside. While you’re in this part of the world, a trip to see the mountaintop city of Ronda should be top of your sightseeing ticklist; highly photogenic, the city is split into two parts and set dramatically atop the El Tajo gorge, with the lookouts from the stone Puente Nuevo bridge and the Plaza de Toros 18th-century bullring being the city’s two most notable landmarks. It’s about an hour’s drive to the edge of the UNESCO-listed Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park and its wooded hills, olive groves and orchards. Head here for no less than 15 spectacular waymarked walking trails, for a highly scenic cycling trail along the Port of La Mujer, or for mountaineering around the Torrecilla ascent. To take things down a notch, you can always try your hand at foraging for mushrooms, or keeping peepers peeled for local wildlife.
