Like the sound of holidaying under canvas with a backdrop of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) peaks? Haste ye to the Y Giler Arms, a traditional country inn just off the A5 (a former coaching route), for tucked behind the pub is a camping field overlooking a lake and edged by the meanders of the River Merddwr. For exercise junkies, this peaceful spot is close to the outdoor-sports hub of Betws-y-Coed (15 minutes’ drive). If you’d rather stay put and drift around on site, the pub opens every evening, where you can be sure of a warm Welsh welcome along with local real ales and home-cooked food served in the lakeside restaurant. Hot breakfasts are also available – just be sure to order yours from the bar the night before – and there are plenty of distractions if the kids get restless, from a darts board and pool table to a variety of board games for you to borrow. Any accompanying dogs are welcome in the public bar and games room, but must be kept on a lead and under close control at all times on the camping field, as it is surrounded by farmland with lots of grazing sheep. And finally, a few practicalities: the site comprises two acres of level pitches, with easy access for towing vehicles. Facilities include modern shower blocks (one with disabled access), a washing-up area, electric hook-ups and water points.

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely quiet site with great views, clean heated shower room and toilet area. We really enjoyed our stay.

Non mi è piaciuto: Not many shops locally to walk. However the pub onsite does breakfast in the morning if you order the night before.

Mi è piaciuto: The on site pub was lovely. The food was fantastic and tasty. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Good location to travel around.

Non mi è piaciuto: Not being able to unpack near the tent so it took a lot longer with kids and a dog. No one on site when we got there. Other campsite users on motorbikes.

Non mi è piaciuto: Carry everything uphill for 100 meters, no car near pitch. Toilets dirty.

Non mi è piaciuto: Toilet blocks were to few and could have been better maintained. Build up of rubbish in bin area which smelled .

Mi è piaciuto: Pitch's were nice .Abit too cramped.People very friendly and pub food very nice.Pub dog friendly so excellent all round.Nice quiet area with great walks for dogs and people. Lovely place.

Non mi è piaciuto: It wasn’t relaxing as we thought the site rules stated no noise after11.30 I had to ask some fellow campers who were sat with music and singing outside if they could keep the noise down as it was 1.45am
