Dall Cottage Camping

Mi è piaciuto: Just off the A9 so great for day trips / hiking days but feels v remote as you have to cross a river in wellies to get on site (or in a 4x4). Feels like wild camping with the benefit of a compost toilet and gas shower! Our plot had trees for a hammock and a small area by the river for fishing. Love the fire pits & shop with drinking water & wood. Easy communication with hosts for lifts across the river for taking all our camping stuff over at the beginning and end of the trip! Would 100% recommend for a semi- wild camp trip!

Mi è piaciuto: We just returned from our stay at Dall Cottage, and would highly recommend it! It gives the feel of wild camping, but you get to have a hot shower and compost toilet, which is ideal. All the pichups are by the river, and each has their own bonfire. To get there you need to cross a shallow river, but the owners will come with their 4x4 to take you across. It is walkable, but you'll need wellies and to take it slowly as its a bit slippy. We manages just fine. There is also a little honesty shop where you can buy wood and kindling, mosquito repellants, soft drinks and marshmallow toasting kits. The owner were absolutly lovely, and we'll look forward to staying there again in the future!

Mi è piaciuto: I visited here for a night with my 7 year old son and will definitely return. We both loved it, it gave him a real sense of adventure, walking along by the river, crossing the Ford and the fire pit. The remote feeling is what a lot of people need these days to get away from technology. Gives the wild camping feel with the convenience of a toilet and shower, also the honesty shop had some handy things although I didn’t need to use it. One night stay but memories for life. Big 👍 from us.

Mi è piaciuto: Beautiful place, beautiful views, many paths to walk. Small shop very practical, toilets clean and fragrant. The owners are very helpful and their sons are role models.

Non mi è piaciuto: The only thing that was a bit bothersome were the trains that ran every few dozen minutes not far from the tent and the noise of the expressway. Most severe at night. I think this information should be in the description of the place.

Mi è piaciuto: We enjoyed an amazing 4 night stay here whilst visiting Blair Horse trials, it was mine & my daughters first ever time camping and we couldn't have chosen a better place, the site is immaculate Tabitha & her family are so welcoming everything has been so well thought out, lovely hot shower & clean facilities, a great little shop to buy logs for the fire pit & other little treats. The location is stunning we could not have asked for anything more.

Mi è piaciuto: Ce camping est un pur paradis pour les cyclistes et piétons qui rêvent d'un lieu paisible, loin des campings cars pour passer une soirée autour d'un petit feu et une nuit au calme, avec quelques autres amateurs de ce type d'aventures... Attention, il faut passer une rivière pour y accéder (tout à fait faisable à pied ou en poussant son vélo).

Mi è piaciuto: I booked this campsite for the horse trials with my dad and sister. Campsite is very well run with the owners being super friendly and helpful. The pitches are decently sized, we were able to pitch up two tents and park the car at the pitch. The fire pits and seating area are a really nice touch, you are also able to buy logs and starter kits from the honesty shop. The honesty shop is well stocked with bottles of water, cans of juice, a small selection of snacks, and things like midgy spray. You can also buy a marshmallow kit for roasting on the fire. The shop also has blankets, grills, and a ground anchor for tying dogs to that you can borrow. Don’t be put off by the compost toilet, I didn’t like the idea of it at first but it is very clean and doesn’t smell, there are clear instructions inside the toilet to follow. The outdoor shower is also really good, again with clear instructions inside. There is a train line near by and a busy road, however, with the noise from the river, you very quickly stop noticing the sounds and it wasn’t an issue to sleep through. Unfortunately for us it was rainy for most of the stay, however, the pitch held up really well with no flooding. Overall a really good site, and this is coming from someone who isn’t the fondest of camping in general!

Non mi è piaciuto: Not a dislike, just a note not to get missed in the paragraph above. There is no drinking water, however, we knew this and brought three water containers with us. For reference, for us the two 10L containers were enough for all three adults and two dogs over our four night stay. There is bottled water available to buy in the honesty shop for good prices, it was 25p for the normal sized bottled water and £1 for the large

Mi è piaciuto: Beautiful location. I believe this is a working croft as there are livestock. Owners are attentive and visible, making sure everyone is welcome and following site rules. Fire pits are available at every pitch and dry firewood and kindling is available at a well stocked camp shop.

Non mi è piaciuto: The only thing to raise for awareness - not a dislike as such - is that dogs (even working dogs) are to be on leads.

Mi è piaciuto: Spectacular tent spots, excellently equipped. e.g. Log stools in case you did not have chairs. Great privacy. Everything works and is clean. Camp shop has what you need and nothing more: e.g. anti-midge, firewood and marshmellows for sale and bbq grill or ground anchor to lend.
