Mi è piaciuto toilets were clean and well maintained , the pitch and surrounding area were walls clean and maintained well . lovely warm showers . the staff were extremely helpful and joyful . the food was amazing - definitely have the burger !

In terms of lighting, two of the three toilet blocks have electrical lighting and the third has solar lighting; this can at times - especially when it is cloudy - run out of battery power. We do like to keep the lighting appropriate to the countryside allowing campers to enjoy the stars without lights beaming across the campsite. We look forward to seeing you back in the future.

Mi è piaciuto Great location, set behind lovely pub with great staff (Alan and Karen who were standing in for their daughter). Excellent evening meal and breakfast at reasonable prices. Great welcome on arrival with good information and a 10% discount on anything bought in pub. Good selection of beers and wine.

Mi è piaciuto Staff very friendly and welcoming, camp ground was flat and tidy.
Facilities (toilet's & showers) were adequate.

Mi è piaciuto Good facilities, good breakfast but unfortunately my car got damaged in the ditch that is randomly in the field with no lights

Non mi è piaciuto Put up lights or a sign to warm drivers anout the random ditch in the field. It damaged my car and really affected my whole weekend making my fundraising challenge more difficult and making my drive home dangerous! Just hope it doesn't cost too much to fix!

As clearly stated in the Pitchup joining instructions and on the campsite gate, guests are required to check in at the pub on arrival before pitching. You did not follow this requirement and instead drove directly onto the campsite, explaining at the time you came into the pub to check-in that you intended to pitch your tent and check in afterwards.

Had you checked in before entering the campsite, the site layout would have been explained to you, including the drainage ditch and the white pitch-marker posts positioned before it. You also confirmed that evening that you had stayed at our campsite previously. The drainage ditches are established site features, have been in place for more than five years, and are marked by white pitch markers.

You have not provided any evidence that the alleged damage occurred on the campsite. In any event, we do not accept liability for damage arising particularly in circumstances where the campsite’s terms and conditions and check-in requirements have not been followed.

In terms of driving your car that evening you asked a member of staff whether the car was safe to drive. You were strongly advised not to rely on staff for any roadworthy assessment (which was not given) and to seek professional advice from the AA before driving the vehicle. At the time, you confirmed that you were a member of the AA or a similar breakdown organisation.

Your chosen pitch included an electric hook-up, and the price reflects the cost of supplying electricity, including VAT charged at the commercial rate of 20%. We hope you will support the campaign for a reduction in the rate of VAT applied to the hospitality industry.
You described the pitch as “not great”, but did not provide any further details or raise any concerns during your stay, so unfortunately we were not given an opportunity to address them at the time. Our facilities are aligned to the AA three-star standard and comprise three toilets and four showers, all of which are available 24 hours a day. In addition campers are invited to use the pub toilets when the pub is open.
As a traditional coaching inn, we are situated beside local roads. Although traffic noise can be noticeable, this location also offers convenient access to nearby attractions. We hope this provides helpful context and clarification in response to your feedback.
