Mi è piaciuto Pleasant site in a good position for local beaches.

Non mi è piaciuto very strange shower system. Advertised 20p for a shower. Turns out this was for a one minute shower and payment was a jaunt away from the shower. By the time I paid and took off my clothes I had about a 10 second shower ! longer showers available for more money but seems a bizarre system.

I just wanted to clarify the situation regarding the showers !

No where is it advertised that a shower is 20p. I cannot see this on the Pitchup advert nor on our own website ?

The pre-arrival email which was sent to you clearly states under the heading of "Hot Showers" :

"Hot water is charged at 20p a minute, so £1 gives you a five minute shower. Twenty pence is normally sufficient for washing up. Please note that the hot water starts as soon as the coin is put into the meter so it is worth taking a family member or friend with you to pop the money in the meter whilst you wait in the shower ready for the water to commence ! Otherwise you will lose hot water time whilst walking from the coin meter to the shower. Coin meters are located out of the showers themselves because of health and safety reasons, where electric and water are not a great combination!

Hot water is coin operated because it is deemed the fairest way of charging whereby you pay for what you use. The alternative is to increase the price of the pitch per night. But given that some guests will not use the showers at all whilst staying with us or will shower on alternate days, this method keeps the price per night down for everyone. Shower cubicles are roomy so there is plenty of space for an adult and two children, or two adults, to shower together to keep the cost down should you so wish.

There is also a free cold shower for anyone brave enough !"

The pre-arrival email which you received also says :

"Our local council would not let us build a proper shower block because we are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and all our facilities do have to be taken down at the end of our camping season! So this is why the showers are as they are, but you will find there is heaps of hot water, and it is hot! Unlike a lot of the campsites around us, we do have a proper boiler and immersion which provides a continuous flow of hot water. All be it basic and rustic, the showers still cost money to build, maintain and run, therefore we do have to charge for their use".

I don't think that you read the pre-arrival email which contained the site information before you came as everything is very clearly stated.

Mi è piaciuto The animals (especially the goats) were cute.
The loos were great, and a good fair way of arranging the meteres hot water.
Loved the little charging/fridge/freezer shed.

Mi è piaciuto We had a fantastic stay at this very well-kept site. The pitches were spacious, everyone was respectful, and the fire pit hire (with wood) was very reasonably priced. Facilities were clean, with plenty of hot water and a simple coin system that worked perfectly. The location couldn’t have been better – just a ten-minute walk to the beach – and the kids loved meeting the animals in the garden field. A really lovely campsite, and we’ll definitely be returning!

Non mi è piaciuto The drop loos were a bit smelly but that comes with the territory of it being a relatively wild camping site. The site can be quite exposed to the wind when it's blowing from the north/east which made setting up the tent difficult, but again, nothing that the site can help.

Non mi è piaciuto Pitch a bit close to main entrance would have preferred further up. Parked diagonally in front of tent to stop others potentially using to reverse into as a turning space.

Mi è piaciuto Such a lovely place to stay, good sized pitches.
Fridge, freezer and charging facilities on site. Toilets were always clean if you can manage the eco sawdust dump system!
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the location was spot on.

Non mi è piaciuto I struggled with the toilet smell but that's just me and it certainly wouldn't put me off going again .

Mi è piaciuto The site was small and generally quiet, the view was lovely from our side, looking over the field and watching the tractors at work.

The site has about 6-7 fridge freezers to store your items which was really handy, they could have done with a wipe down inside every so often as they were a bit dirty.

The local beach was lovely and only about 2 minute drive away.

The site kindly pitched us further away from other tents like I requested due to sen child's needs, so this was appreciated.

Bins were emptied daily or every other day.

I saw the lady who owns the site come round cleaning the site up and wiping sinks down ect

Non mi è piaciuto The toilets 😭 I really wasn't a fan, the smell was quite strong and I just couldn't use them.
However lots of people were so it's probably down to personal preference.

The spiders in the shower, I just wasn't a fan of sharing my shower with someone who has 8 legs, i prefer to shower alone, other than that the shower was nice and warm.

Not the sites issue but the roads 😱 be aware the roads are very tight and you'll feel like a yoyo as you'll go so far forward only to reverse the same distance back to let someone pass 😭

Equally not the sites issue but if you have an electric car bring your cars electric cable with you as so many of the chargers are bring your own or you'll have to travel further out to charge.

Mi è piaciuto Offset by the quintessentially picturesque Devon countryside, with its close proximity to beautiful sandy beaches, this is a perfectly placed campsite.
A wonderfully managed site, with an abundance of essential and useful information provided both before hand via email and also onsite, meant for a very pleasant camping experience. The essential facilities provided - toilets, showers, fridge/freezers, USB chargers, recycling - were all well maintained and perfectly functional. Even with the campsite at full capacity, there was always space in the fridge, available USB chargers and no queuing for toilets or showers on our behalf. Additionally, the wood sold on site was the best burning we have used.
The generously sized pre allocated pitches were very much appreciated and we found all the other campers to be exceptionally amiable and respectful. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. My family would definitely return to this area and campsite again, and we highly recommend others to visit.

Mi è piaciuto Lovely site. Basic, but everything you need. Nice area with goats and chickens. Short walk down a quiet road into Thurlestone which has a lovely dog friendly beach!
