Ditchling Camping

Mi è piaciuto the campsite was lovely, fairly easy to locate if you put the coordinates in (what three words may help people navigate it easier as the maps sent us 5 mins round the corner at first). was a decent size for camping for a short period of time. toilets were mainly clean, bit smelly but both had candles in. showers were very private and hot water going up to 36 degrees celsius. we had booked a bell tent which was very large and spacious and fire pit with wood, kindling and fire starter was only £15 (cash only) and you get enough for probably 3 fires out of it. there was a local cafe 10 mins away that did excellent coffee and a shop too.

Non mi è piaciuto when we arrived we were confused as for what to do as no workers were on site. we rang the number and didn’t go through until the third ring where the man who owns the site was confused. turns out he just missed the booking so met us there 15 mins later to set up our tent which didn’t take very long, he was very apologetic. the site was also cash only but on pitchup is listed to accept paypal and bank transfer so just make sure you are prepared with cash if needed. site also listed it was a quiet zone with no music allowed, there were people playing music which was fine as we did too however, there were a lot of children who were still shouting at around 11pm which was disturbing and not as peaceful as you’d hope at a late hour.

Mi è piaciuto The teepees looked lovely on images, facilities okay.

Non mi è piaciuto The check in process was terrible. I tried calling both of the phone numbers provided on the confirmation email and neither got an answer. Eventually a rude man in a Jeep that was not labelled with logo/branding that he worked for the campsite pulled up. He informed us that we were to use any empty teepee. We asked which ones these were and he just repeated any empty. This seems like a very unsafe way to run the campsite, we could have walked in on someone in there teepee and it also makes the belongings left in the teepee very vulnerable if guests are informed to go looking in random teepees. He did not ask our names or booking confirmation number and therefore had no clue what we had paid for. There were no signs of where abouts the toilets and showers were.

We then went to sit on the haybails and we're very quietly relaxing. The same man from the jeep came and very aggressively told us we were not to use the haybails. There were no signs to say what was available to use and we had paid for a 5 person teepee and we're under the impression from the photographs on the website that everyone who had paid for a teepee was allowed to use the haybails to relax on. We then explained that we weren't to know as there was no signage or anywhere to state who had access to it, and that we could go back to our teepee. He replied that it was obvious and how would we like it if someone went into our home. Which was a massive contradiction to him telling us to go and search around for any free teepees. The customer service was terrible.

It's a shame because the camp site looks lovely and facilities are decent. But it was incredible expensive for such a disappointing experience and not how it was advertised as we were mislead that we could use the haybails. We purposely did not bring camping chairs because of this.

Mi è piaciuto Amazing facilities- clean toilets, hot showers, washing up area. Lovely village and view from the campsite, easy to get into Brighton.

Mi è piaciuto This was an incredible location to visit. We enjoyed our stay with 5 other families so 28 of us in total.
With 16 children aged 2-10 we were so pleased with this set up, families that wanted to glamp could and other families set up their own tents.

It was a safe and chilled weekend for both kids and parents & we plan on making it a family tradition.

The host was super helpful and really warm.

Mi è piaciuto We loved this campsite! Laid back, friendly, lots of space, also the loos and showers were great. Close to Hassocks station for any non-car campers like us, and the gorgeous Ditchling Beacon view to wake up to. The pubs in Ditchling were good food and vibes too. Fab!

Mi è piaciuto Host was very helpful, the tent was nicely pitched and placed. The ablutions were clean and serviceable.

Mi è piaciuto Beautiful location. Clean, basic facilities (handsoap would've been lovely). Spacious grounds with delightful views. Only 20min drive to Brighton. Will definitely be back! Thank you.
