Farm and Fell Campsite

Mi è piaciuto Easy to check in and choose your own pitch. Lots of flat pitches available. Everything is sign posted including descriptions of route into the town on chalk boards. Friendly owners came round at 6pm and 9pm to provide fire pit equipment. £8 and included everything you needed to get going. Farm animals around the site are fun to watch (especially the goats)

Mi è piaciuto Beautiful location, short walk into town.
Lots of walks surrounding the site, we climbed Winder Fell.
Lovely grassed pitches each with an area for a fire. Logs sold on site.
The management delt quickly and efficiently with any people not following the site rules.
We loved watching the lambs and goats, all where very friendly.
Lovely working farm.

Mi è piaciuto Quiet location. Well kept fields and clean. Animals surrounding you with amazing river walks.

Mi è piaciuto The location and the views where fantastic. The sound of the river was peaceful and relaxing.

Non mi è piaciuto The portable toilets where filthy, didnt look like they had been cleaned for months. We made the decision to walk the whole campsite just to use the main facilities.

You booked the Main Field which had vacant pitches within 20 metres of the toilet & shower block.

You were free to choose any pitch that suited you on the whole site.

You drove through a closed gate into a field that wasn’t open for camping as we were clearing up after a busy bank holiday weekend because you wanted to be next to the river.

I came and saw you within 20 minutes of arriving and told you the field was closed, the facilities hadn’t yet been serviced and you asked to stay as it was only 1 night (as you waded in the river).

Again, at 1800hrs Grace had the same conversation with you.

At what point do you take responsibility? You drove through the field you’d booked and through a closed gate. You pitched your tent in a closed field because you prioritised being next to the river over being next to the toilets.

We aren’t responsible for any of those decisions. We are responsible for accommodating your wishes to stay by the river (meaning cattle couldn’t graze), for not making you move onto the main field (which you’d booked) and for allowing you to choose where you wanted to camp.

Sometimes in life we need to take personal responsibility for decisions we make.

Mi è piaciuto Perfect location with in a working farm - lovely seeing the animals being fed and cared for.
Pitches are of a good size with their own fire pits - wood/logs available daily
Rubbish collected daily from your pitch also.
Situated right on the river with safe easy access to picturesque paddling areas.
Facilities basic but clean with access to toilets and showers.

Pitch size brilliant
Lovely little individual fire pits for each pitch. Staff come around to your tent selling fire wood
Very clean, staff come daily to your pitch to take your rubbish away
Beautiful surroundings
Friendly staff
Animals on the farm look extremely well cared for

Non mi è piaciuto We was on a family area site, it should become quieter from 9:30pm
But on our stay some families were still being loud and rowdy at 4 in the morning. There’s no site security to keep this under control.
3 very basically toilets, although very clean. Could do with 1 or 2 more on this area. 2 showers, which feed from the singular communal sink. So these do go cold when sink is in use.

Dal gestore: We were called at 2230hrs and 2330hrs about that group. We visited them on each occasion and quietened them down. We waited 15 minutes before returning and we received no more calls that night.

We never received another call, but we were told the next morning the group had continued until 0400hrs.

We told the group to leave straight away and banned them from the site.

We can only respond to what we know about. These incidents are rare and it’s uneconomical to pass the cost of overnight security onto campers. As explained at the campsite entrance, if there’s a problem, please call us.

Antisocial behaviour is as illegal on a campsite as it is at home. If you’re ever in the same situation again, please always consider calling the Police on 101 because if people don’t meet our requests to quieten down, that’s what we do.

Mi è piaciuto Love how they all have fire pits, amazing views, great location and spacious pitches. It’s great having the animals around you. Clean site with three fabulous showers with rainfall showerheads.

Non mi è piaciuto There’s only one sink for washing up and if you run it when someone is in the shower the hot water goes off. Also no handbasin in the toilets to wash your hands.

Surrounding area is gorgeous
Staff lovely
Fire pit built on each pitch
15 minutes walk to Sedburgh which has lots of shops cafes pubs and places to eat.
Farm animals on site so nice to see lambs being fed.
Spar shop open till late in walking distance.

Non mi è piaciuto Only 1 sink on the site and none in toilets and there were ALOT of people.
Showers (3 of ) very basic.
Looks like under development and still building so we will likely return another time and see if anything changes.

Dal gestore: This review is inaccurate. There are 2 sinks on the main field, 3 porcelain flushing toilets, 2 showers and 4 mains water taps.

These comfortably service 30 pitches.

In late May bank holiday we seem to have had a few campervans with middle aged couples who struggle to queue and be patient for other campers. One of them also had children, and in her tantrum admitted it was hot a she was frustrated at queueing for 10 minutes at peak time to wash her pots. She was on pitch 3 next to the pot wash. When I suggested she could have sat and relaxed until the queue cleared, she admitted feeling daft.

If you visit the Yorkshire Dales on a bank holiday with London or Lake District consumerist expectations, you’re going to be disappointed. Relax, be kind, be patient and enjoy a different way of looking at life. Sometimes a bit of patience isn’t just better for your health, it’s better for the environment too.

Mi è piaciuto Loved the location, peaceful and easily accessible. The owners were wonderful, always showing up to sell wood and take rubbish. We were lucky enough to be able to feed the lambs as well! Pitch sizes were great and we will definitely return.

Non mi è piaciuto The only thing we think could improve is the amount of showers on site - there are only 4 and we had to wait.
