Robin Hood Caravan Park

Mi è piaciuto A lovely quiet site. Pitch space was very good. Toilet and showers were clean, a simple shower curtain woukd prevent the spread of spray. Chemical toilet points clean. The site itself was spotless. The village pub opens at 3 and does a nice menu from 5.

Non mi è piaciuto Only downside although within the village there is little to do and no shop. Although there is a small one on site.

Mi è piaciuto Very nice location.
Pitches were reasonably spaced.
A small site with friendly staff when they were around.
As 2/3 of the site is taken by seasonal pitches, the site was rather quiet whilst we were there.

Non mi è piaciuto The bathrooms were not cleaned on a daily basis, during our 5 night stay I don’t believe they were cleaned once, if they were, it wasn’t a deep clean.
Very limited opening hours for the reception, so reporting issues was problematic.
Pot wash was pretty basic and again, not cleaned.
Dog waste bins were not emptied and were overflowing during our stay.

We were, however, very disappointed by the comments regarding cleanliness, as they do not reflect our cleaning procedures. The toilets and showers are thoroughly cleaned at least once every day, with additional cleaning during busier periods, and the pot-wash area is also cleaned routinely. Dog-waste bins are emptied regularly, although we are sorry if one became full between checks. Our barrier entry/exit records show that most guests spend the middle of the day exploring the surrounding area, as we can see that you did during your stay. Reception is therefore open from 9am to 10.30am and again from 4pm until 5pm or 6pm. All guests are also provided with a telephone number to contact the duty staff when reception is closed. We received no call or other report from you about any of these concerns during your five-night stay; had we done so, we would have investigated them immediately.

Mi è piaciuto Lovely clean toilet/shower facilities. There’s nothing else there to like or dislike, the owner who drove around on a little buggy type of thing was very pleasant chatty & helpful when we asked him anything

Non mi è piaciuto I did find it strange that the pot wash was based at the end of the site where all the static holiday homes were who would obviously have a kitchen & amenities built in leaving touring people with no pot wash area at all.Probably a good place to use as a base but nothing within walking distance distance only a pub that sells very expensive drinks pizzas & a small selection of Thai street food no traditional food

We’re sorry that our location wasn’t what you had expected. You arrived with a car full of fishing tackle intending to fish around Whitby, but despite our name, Robin Hood Caravan Park is not in Robin Hood’s Bay—the park was named after its original owner, Robin Hood. We are based in the rural village of Slingsby, approximately 30 miles from Whitby. Our address, location and surrounding facilities are detailed online so guests can ensure we are a suitable base for their plans before booking.

Many guests choose us precisely because of our peaceful countryside setting. You can walk for miles in every direction from Slingsby, although we appreciate that guests wanting to be close to Whitby or within walking distance of a wider choice of shops, restaurants and attractions may prefer a different location.

Our pot-wash facilities are available for touring and camping guests. While they are situated towards one end of the park, they are not intended for the holiday homes, which—as you mention—have their own kitchens.

Sadly, it appears that our location meant we weren’t the right park for the fishing trip you had planned. We do encourage all guests to check where we are and whether the local area meets their particular needs before booking.

Mi è piaciuto The pitch size is great and spacious. Easy to drive into and set up.
Private to a degree which was lovely
Site is super quiet as there is no club house etc which we dont like. It means kids are truly safe to ride their bikes and scooters.
Little park at top of site which is safe and decent size. Good spots for football too. But dont go here if you want activities for the kids it isnt that type of site (which is why we like it!)
Location is spot on for exploring this part of Yorkshire too. Lovely walks just outside the site too into Slingsby which has a small park and tyre swing.
Toilets & showers were basic but clean(ish) and good that they were contained in one cubicle so truly private when needed. I liked this element vs other caravan sites we’d stayed at.

Non mi è piaciuto Shop had limited stock but we know this as we go to this site regularly so stock up before arriving. It’s open 1hr on a morning and 1hr on an afternoon.
Wifi which is free is useless as I know most people have mentioned. And normal service is limited due to location so note this before travelling (download books ahead of trip etc)

Thank you too for your comments about the shop and Wi-Fi. Our shop is intentionally kept small, to provide the essentials, with opening hours designed to cover the busiest times of day.

With regard to the Wi-Fi, we do operate a fair usage policy, meaning download speeds are managed so that all guests can access the service. This does mean it isn't intended for high-bandwidth activities such as streaming films or downloading large files, as these can significantly affect the connection for everyone on the park. Had you mentioned any issues during your stay, we'd have been more than happy to look into the websites or apps you were trying to use and the device you were connecting with, as this can sometimes help us identify a specific problem.

Quite location.
Toilets/showers were clean with plenty of hot water.
Short walk to village pub, (good pizza's).
Good location for the moors and bigger towns.

Non mi è piaciuto Push button showers don't run for very long, not helpful if wife has long hair....
Wifi was a bit hit and miss, if we had motorhome between us and the mast (located on shower/toilet block even though we were only 3 pitches away, max 50m), if stood outside van with clear line of site to shower block signal was adequate.

Mi è piaciuto Drive up to the gate and it opens with your number plate. Very good size service pitches. Play park. Site kept very clean. Nice location.

Non mi è piaciuto No mobile phone signal for miles. On site WiFi very poor. Struggled to get a signal for WiFi and when I did it Wouldn’t always let me log on.
